Since 1958, St John's Home for Elderly Persons has served as a reputable Sheltered Home for seniors under the Ministry of Social and Family Affairs (MSF). As we prepare to transition into a Nursing Home under the Ministry of Health (MOH) by 2026, we invite dedicated professionals to join our team as Senior / Staff Nurses. Successful candidates will play an integral role in shaping the direction of our Nursing services, delivering quality care to our residents and their families across both Nursing Home and Centre-based settings.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Comply with approved standards of nursing practice and professional guidelines
- Provide nursing services that require substantial and specialized clinical skills
- Work closely with residents attending doctors and the multidisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive and coordinated care
- Monitor, assess, and report changes in residents conditions, needs, and responses to treatment in a timely manner
- Ensure nursing care delivery and interventions are implemented in accordance with individualized care plans
- Evaluate residents responses to nursing interventions and recommend revisions to care plans as appropriate
- Collaborate with Allied Health Professionals and initiate preventive, rehabilitative, and restorative nursing interventions when required
- Conduct and supervise comprehensive nursing assessments for new admissions
- Prepare, administer, and document medications accurately in compliance with safe medication practices
- Ensure the safe custody, administration, and documentation of controlled drugs in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Participate in the training, supervision, and development of nursing and care staff
- Manage emergency situations effectively by taking prompt actions to mitigate risks and escalating matters to the appropriate supervisor when necessary
- Work collaboratively with staff to maintain a safe, clean, and hygienic environment within the nursing home
Secondary Responsibilities and Duties
- Participate in quality assurance activities to monitor, evaluate, and enhance the quality and appropriateness of nursing care.
- Participate in planned and periodic quality audits
- Prepare duty rosters and daily staff assignments for the ward or department
- Contribute to staff performance appraisal and evaluation in collaboration with the Nurse Clinician
- Deputize for the Nurse Clinician in his/her absence as required
- Undertake additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Senior / Nurse Clinician, Director of Nursing (DON), or Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
