Senior Staff Nurse, Perioperative

Brief Summary

This role offers the opportunity to lead and provide comprehensive perioperative nursing care, ensuring safety and quality throughout all surgical phases.

Responsibilities

• Implement protective measures to prevent injuries from various sources, including chemical, electrical, and thermal. Transport patients, evaluating signs of skin and tissue injury during transfer. Assess the necessity of devices to enhance surgical exposure, prevent neuromuscular injury, and ensure optimal physiological functioning. Use medical supplies and equipment within established safety parameters. Conduct required counts to ensure no items are left inside the patient during surgery, confirming patient safety. Monitor for signs of chemical, electrical, and physical injuries and assess skin and tissue integrity. Collaborate with team members to minimize operative time and ensure efficient patient care delivery. Maintain aseptic technique, ensuring a sterile environment to prevent contamination. Initiate and oversee infection prevention measures. Manage the collection and proper disposal of cultures and specimens. Administer prescribed medications and solutions in accordance with hospital policies.

Requirements

• Degree or Diploma in Nursing. Registered with the Singapore Nursing Board. A minimum of 4 years of experience in an Operating Theatre setting as a Scrub Nurse is preferred.
