Job Description
- Lead and oversee tender preparation, quotations, and progress claims to ensure accuracy and compliance with project requirements.
- Manage detailed take-off measurements, Bills of Quantities (BOQ), and tender documents for steel structure projects.
- Evaluate and negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to secure cost-effective and reliable partnerships.
- Provide expert advice to project teams on cost implications of design changes, variations, and site adjustments.
- Supervise interim payments, claims, and maintain comprehensive project documentation for financial control.
- Mentor and guide junior QS staff, ensuring quality standards and knowledge transfer across the team.
- Collaborate closely with engineers, designers, and contractors to align project costing with technical specifications.
- Monitor steel material market trends and integrate pricing updates into project budgets.
- Handle contractual matters including claims, disputes, and final account settlements.
- Ensure compliance with local construction regulations, safety standards, and company policies.
- Diploma/Degree in Quantity Surveying, Building, Construction Management, or related field.
- Minimum 3-6 years of relevant QS experience, with strong exposure to steel structure projects.
- In-depth knowledge of steel construction methods, materials, and international/local codes (Eurocode, BS, SS, GB).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with proven ability in cost control and budget management.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills to liaise effectively with stakeholders.
- Leadership qualities with the ability to manage a team and deliver under tight deadlines.
- Preferred Competencies and Qualifications
- Diploma/Degree in Quantity Surveying, Building, Construction Management, or related field.
