Job Scope
The Senior Manager, Trade acts as the commercial heartbeat of the regional network. You will have P&L accountability, overseeing everything from slot cost analysis to commercial business development. Your primary goal is to optimize the financial performance of the trade by maximizing vessel utilization and revenue, while simultaneously mentoring a high-performing team to exceed organizational targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct the day-to-day pricing and trade management for services across the South East Asia network.
- Establish and implement pricing guidelines designed to maximize trade objectives and achieve peak financial performance.
- Take full ownership of the Budgeting & Forecasting cycle.
- Deliver aggressive earnings targets, aiming to build upon a proven track record of significant year-on-year profitability.
- Manage a sizable team ensuring all daily pricing and operational targets are met.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders and overseas offices to drive Yield Management initiatives, ensuring optimal service contribution margins.
- Collaborate on the seamless integration of container portfolios, ensuring both carrier and shipper-owned assets are utilized to their highest potential.
- Balance the drive for volume with the necessity of maximizing vessel utilization and lifting.
- Continuously improve services through feasibility studies.
- Focus on optimizing vessel deployment to reduce idling time and maximize the efficiency of the regional fleet.
- Cultivate existing relationships and develop new collaborations to expand the market footprint.
Qualifications and Experience
- More than 10 years in Container Shipping, with a proven track record in Trade Management, Pricing, or P&L ownership.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop teams; a people-first manager who drives results through inspiration.
- Expert knowledge of container economics, including slot costs, equipment imbalances, and bunker surcharges.
- Ability to optimize complex vessel networks.
