Position Summary
We are looking for a hands-on and versatile Senior Finance Manager/Finance Director to join our dynamic and fast-growing startup based in Singapore, with operations expanding across Hong Kong, the United States, and other key regions. This is a critical leadership role responsible for setting up and managing our full finance infrastructure from accounting operations to regional tax and financial compliance frameworks.
The ideal candidate will have a strong track record in building finance functions from scratch, experience in regional finance and tax structuring, and the willingness to roll up their sleeves to handle day-to-day accounting tasks in the early stages. This role suits someone who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and is comfortable working in a cross-border business with China roots and international ambitions.
Key Responsibilities
- Finance Platform Setup: Build and implement the end-to-end finance and accounting infrastructure to support the company's growth across Singapore, Hong Kong, and the U.S.
- Accounting Operations: Oversee and execute core accounting tasks, including general ledger management, month-end closings, cash flow tracking, and financial reporting.
- Tax and Compliance: Design and manage compliant tax structures in multiple jurisdictions (Singapore, HK, U.S.), ensuring adherence to local regulatory requirements.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Develop annual budgets, manage cost controls, and provide forward-looking financial insights to support business decision-making.
- Internal Controls: Establish internal control policies, accounting procedures, and financial risk mitigation practices suitable for a scaling organization.
- Audit & External Partners: Liaise with auditors, tax advisors, corporate secretaries, and external vendors to ensure timely and accurate filings.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with the CEO, operations, and other departments to align finance strategies with business needs.
- Team Building (Future): Potential to build and manage a small finance team as the business scales.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA / Chartered Accountant qualification preferred.
- 1015 years of solid finance and accounting experience, with at least 35 years in a regional or cross-border finance role.
- Proven track record in setting up finance functions in startup or SME environments.
- Deep knowledge of Singapore tax and accounting standards; experience with Hong Kong and U.S. compliance is a strong advantage.
- Hands-on experience in bookkeeping, financial reporting, and cash flow management.
- Comfortable working in lean teams and willing to take on both strategic and operational responsibilities.
- Proficiency in English and Mandarin is required to liaise with English- and Mandarin-speaking stakeholders effectively.
- High level of integrity, attention to detail, and adaptability in a startup setting.
