Job Summary
Lead and oversee Environmental, Health & Safety functions across construction projects, ensuring regulatory compliance and fostering a strong safety culture on all sites.
Responsibilities
- Advise management on current and changing EHS legal requirements to ensure compliance with regulations such as the WSH Act and WSH (Construction) Regulations
- Monitor and evaluate EHS programmes and control measures across projects to maintain safety standards
- Identify training needs and conduct in-house EHS training to enhance personnel competence
- Review company safety performance data and develop measures to drive continuous improvement
- Coordinate and lead monthly safety site walks with senior management and project teams to identify and mitigate risks
- Investigate and analyze incidents to determine root causes and recommend preventive actions to avoid recurrence
- Promote company-wide EHS awareness to embed a proactive safety culture
- Maintain communication with official and professional bodies on EHS matters to stay updated on best practices
- Disseminate updates on codes of practice and safety literature to relevant stakeholders
- Prepare and present monthly safety performance reports to management for informed decision-making
- Prepare project sites for participation in national-level safety awards to benchmark safety excellence
- Review and recommend safety resources to management to meet evolving EHS requirements
- Coordinate with external approved parties to conduct regular ISO 14001:2015, ISO 45001:2018, GGBS, and ConSASS audits to ensure compliance and certification readiness
- Develop and prepare Project Safety Plans and EHS programmes tailored to project needs
Required competencies and certifications
- Registered WSH Officer with MOM (mandatory)
- Minimum 8-10 years of EHS/WSH experience in the construction industry
- At least 3 years in a managerial or leadership role
- Strong knowledge of WSH Act, risk assessment, and Singapore safety regulations
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Degree or Diploma in Engineering, Environmental, Safety, or related discipline
- Experience managing large-scale construction or infrastructure projects
- bizSAFE Level Star or Lead Auditor experience
- ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 knowledge or certification
- Experience with HDB or large projects
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
