Job Description

About the role

Industrious is growing across Asia-Pacific, and the region needs a senior lawyer to lead its legal work. As Senior Counsel, APAC, you will be Industrious lead in-house lawyer for the region, reporting to our Head of Legal, based in New York City. You will advise across the full range of the region's matters, including commercial contracts, real estate transaction and portfolio management, strategic matters, and corporate governance.

The role gives you much of the autonomy of a regional legal lead role. You will run your own matters, advise regional leadership directly, and shape how legal supports the business as it enters new markets. You will also work as part of a global legal team, with the wider CBRE legal organisation behind it.

Success here means a regional business that sees legal as a practical partner, deals that close on commercially sound terms, and well-judged calls on what to handle yourself, what to escalate, and what to send to external counsel.

What you'll do:

Real Estate & Portfolio Ownership

  • Lead the negotiation of leases, management agreements, and related documents across the APAC portfolio, from heads of terms through signing.
  • Keep the existing location portfolio legally sound, proactively resolving issues as they arise and enforcing rights where needed.

Commercial Contracts & Market Expansion

  • Own the region's commercial agreements—ranging from member agreements to vendor, technology, and licensing contracts—in close partnership with the global legal team.
  • Advise on entity formation, licensing, and regulatory requirements as Industrious and The Great Room enter new APAC markets.

Corporate Governance & Group Support

  • Oversee the region's corporate governance and entity management, supported by administrative and corporate secretarial resources.
  • Support globally led M&A and large-scale corporate transactions with local legal expertise, diligence, and execution.

External Counsel & Escalation Management

  • Manage local counsel across APAC jurisdictions, holding them to high standards regarding quality, speed, and cost efficiency.
  • Exercise judgment on daily triage—determining what to handle directly, what to delegate to external counsel, and what requires global alignment.

Who you are:

Requirements

  • Qualified to practise law in Singapore or Hong Kong; admission or practical experience in additional APAC jurisdictions is a plus.
  • Law firm training combined with in-house legal experience, ideally in a broad generalist role.
  • Proven track record as lead negotiator on commercial leases or management agreements (hotel, hospitality, or flexible workspace experience is highly relevant).
  • Strong breadth in commercial contracting across a diverse range of agreement types.
  • Prior experience working within a multinational company, law firm, or matrixed global organization (experience working alongside broader parent networks like CBRE is a plus).

Qualities

  • You provide clear, actionable advice and make confident calls even when answers aren't black and white.
  • You thrive with regional responsibility and don't need real-time supervision to make sound legal decisions.
  • You prefer a varied workload (real estate, commercial deals, regulatory, and corporate governance) over a single narrow specialty.
  • You communicate effectively across diverse teams, cultures, and global time zones.

What's in it for you

  • Competitive remuneration
  • Career progression
  • 5-day hybrid work week
  • Annual Leave
  • Birthday Leave
  • Monthly mobile allowance
  • Flexible benefits for medical and other approved wellness, healthcare activities etc.
  • Beautiful workplace that fosters collaboration and interactions with others from a diverse background of cultures
  • Opportunity to work with various teams across regional locations
