Perform minor maintenance such as strainer cleaning, filter/ screen change, coolant/ lubricants top up and hose connection etc.
Perform checks, start-up and shutdown operations on process equipment such as pumps and compressors as per Standard Operating Procedures or Work Instructions.
Isolating piping systems for plant start-up, shutdowns, product grade change and troubleshooting operations.
Monitor and control process variables via DCS (distillation columns, reactors, driers, compressors, etc) to maintain quality and stability of the plant.
Adjusting process parameters to optimize process operations under supervision of Supervisors.
Support supervision to troubleshoots equipment and/or process problems to identify needed corrections or Improvements.
Performing as acting Supervisor in the absence of Shift Supervisor.
Collect process samples from assigned sampling points in a safe manner.
Able to work in a laboratory environment performing in process sample testing to ensure product quality.
Commissioning and de-commissioning of process equipment.
Performing emergency shutdown of process equipment
Proper handing and blending of non-conforming and off specs products.
Prepare plant equipment for maintenance and ensure all required Lockout, Tagout and Tryout has been performed.
Lead onsite job training (OJT) for junior Chemical Technicians.
Preparing chemicals, including mixing and dilution, for process operations
Performing inter-tank transfers of chemicals and products based on established quality procedures.
Performing emergency response activities and drills.
Maintain acceptable housekeeping in assigned areas.
Review final product and process analytical results, and DCS conditions/trends.
Understand and comply with departmental Safety and Environmental guidelines, policies, and procedures.
Contribute to the improvement of the Safety, Health, Environment and Quality Programs.
Qualifications:
NITEC or Diploma in Chemical Process Technology
At least 8 years working experience as Process Technician in a chemical industry
