Why This Role Matters

As an Accountant at Woodlands Hospital, you play a key role in supporting the organisation's financial management and operational effectiveness. You will oversee financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to ensure accurate accounting records and meaningful insights for informed decision-making.

Working closely with stakeholders across clinical, operational, and administrative departments, you will act as a finance business partner to support cost management, resource planning, and financial accountability. Your work will contribute to strengthening financial governance while enabling departments to align their financial planning with organisational priorities.

This role offers the opportunity to contribute to a growing healthcare institution while supporting sustainable financial operations and continuous improvement in financial processes and systems.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare management financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and board presentation materials, ensuring accuracy and timely submission

Conduct variance analysis by comparing actual financial performance against approved budgets and forecasts, identifying trends and providing insights for management review

Support periodic forecasting and annual budgeting processes by working closely with departments to gather financial data and consolidate projections

Assist in coordinating departmental budget submissions and reviewing budget assumptions to ensure alignment with organisational priorities

Support grant administration and claims management processes, ensuring accurate submissions and compliance with funding requirements

Act as a finance business partner to assigned departments by analysing financial results, identifying cost drivers, and advising on budget utilisation and resource optimisation

Support cost management initiatives and recommend process improvements to enhance financial efficiency

Review and approve purchase requisitions and purchase orders within delegated authority limits, ensuring compliance with procurement policies and budget allocations

Manage cost centre administration including creation, maintenance, and regular housekeeping activities

Participate in finance system implementations or enhancement initiatives, including requirement gathering and user acceptance testing (UAT)

Support ad hoc financial analyses, projects, and initiatives as assigned by management

What You Bring to the Organisation

Strong financial analysis and reporting capabilities with attention to accuracy and detail

Ability to interpret financial data and provide insights to support business decision-making

Good stakeholder management skills to partner effectively with clinical and operational teams

Strong organisational and prioritisation skills in managing multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment

Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications for financial reporting and analysis

Mandatory Requirements

Degree in Accountancy or a recognised professional qualification (e.g., ACCA, CA, CPA or equivalent)

Minimum 4 years of relevant working experience, including at least 2 years in public accounting practice

Experience in the healthcare industry will be an advantage

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications knowledge of SAP is an advantage
