SAP Developer (ABAP & Fiori) - Contract

The ideal candidate is a seasoned SAP ABAP developer with a minimum of 4-6 years of experience who has grown into a leadership and SME capacity. They demonstrate deep technical knowledge in ABAP, Fiori/UI5, CDS and OData, while remaining current with S/4HANA architectural patterns and HANA performance engineering.

They are collaborative by nature, comfortable managing team decisions, engaging across multiple project teams, and providing technical direction that drives consistent delivery quality. Experience with HR domain processes is a valued differentiator.

MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS

. Sufficient hands-on experience in UI5, ABAP, CDS and OData.

. Required depth in UI5 with proven exposure to enhancing standard Fiori applications.

. Strong understanding of S/4HANA concepts, HANA performance tuning, and CDS/OData.

. Expert proficiency in SAP ABAP Development (OO-ABAP, ALV, performance tuning, debugging).

. OData service creation covering CRUDQ operations, SAP Gateway integration and Fiori integration.

. File-based interface development - Open Dataset, FTP/SFTP and robust error handling.

. Reports and enhancements - ALV, User Exits, BADIs, and enhancement frameworks.

OPTIONAL / ADVANTAGEOUS SKILLS

. ABAP Workflow development experience.

. HR Domain Knowledge:

HR master data, payroll, and time management structures.

HR authorisations and security concepts.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

. Design, build, and configure SAP applications to meet business process and functional requirements.

. Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) - lead, mentor, and manage the development team.

. Take ownership of team-level technical decisions and coordinate with multiple stakeholder teams.

. Develop innovative solutions using SAP ABAP to enhance application functionality and performance.

. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate SAP Fiori for an improved user experience.

. Conduct regular code reviews, enforce coding standards, and provide technical guidance to team members.

. Engage proactively with multiple teams contribute to key architectural and design decisions.

. Provide solutions to complex problems both within the immediate team and across broader programmes.

. Stay current on SAP industry trends and best practices to drive continuous improvement.
