We are seeking an experienced Resident Engineer to support enterprise storage infrastructure in a customer-facing environment. This 1-year contract role focuses on the configuration, administration, and troubleshooting of enterprise storage systems, including Dell EMC Data Domain, Dell EMC PowerMax, and Dell EMC PowerScale.
The successful candidate will work closely with stakeholders to ensure system reliability, performance optimisation, and adherence to best practices.
Key Responsibilities
System Configuration & Administration
- Configure and manage Data Domain network interfaces, DD Boost, and MTrees.
- Configure and monitor Snapshots, Virtual Tape Library (VTL), and Secure Multi-Tenancy.
- Perform initial system setup, including Fibre Channel connections.
- Monitor file system space usage and optimise storage allocation.
Backup & Replication Management
- Configure and manage data replication and recovery processes.
- Support backup architecture planning, including capacity and throughput considerations.
- Implement and support data archiving, migration, and deduplication strategies.
Troubleshooting & Support
- Diagnose and resolve issues related to Data Domain systems and associated storage platforms.
- Provide proactive monitoring and performance tuning.
- Collaborate with customers to understand technical requirements and provide appropriate solutions.
- Stay updated on product features, enhancements, and new releases.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience supporting enterprise storage systems, including Data Domain, PowerMax, and PowerScale.
- Strong knowledge of Data Domain configuration, management, and troubleshooting.
- Experience with DD Boost, MTrees, Snapshots, VTL, Secure Multi-Tenancy, and data replication.
- Understanding of Fibre Channel connectivity and storage performance optimisation.
- Experience in backup architecture, capacity planning, and throughput analysis.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders effectively.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Preferred Competencies
- Experience working in a resident engineer or on-site support role.
- Familiarity with enterprise backup solutions and disaster recovery planning.
- Relevant vendor certifications are advantageous.
