Researcher

Black Dot Research is a market and social research agency offering full-suite research capabilities to clients from all sectors and industries. We also operate a leading independent fact-checking platform as a contribution to efforts to combat misinformation and disinformation, commonly known as fake news. We are looking for dynamic and driven Singaporean citizens to join our team as a researcher!

As a researcher on the team, you will work closely with the Managing Director and the management team

in providing administrative and operational support in projects, activities and any other duties

deemed necessary for the company. You will be expected to fulfil the following

roles and responsibilities:

Research

• Assist Manager in coordinating operational aspects of research projects

• Design surveys, questionnaires, focus group discussion and interview guides, and/or

utilise third-party research services to provide clients with valuable insights specific to

project requirements

• Conduct literature reviews, fieldwork, interviews and/or focus group discussions to

gather research data

• Maintain regular communication with client and management to update on project

milestones, ensuring the completion of core project objectives

• Compile and organise research findings in graphs, charts and diagrams

• Document, report and present research findings to management and clients effectively

• Seek and identify new leads and potential research opportunities

Training Curriculum

• Develop a curriculum on information resilience for schools, workplaces and the

community

• Plan, prepare and conduct lessons for course participants

• Liaise with external stakeholders on matters related to information resilience

• Contribute to reports aimed at strengthening information resilience

Fact-checking

• Assist Lead FactChecker in conducting research for factchecks

• Assist Lead FactChecker in managing the company's digital platforms and engaging

the online community

• Produce written reports for factchecks and commentaries

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in social sciences or related fields (Psychology, Sociology, Political Science) with 1-2 years of experience, fresh graduates are welcome to apply

• Working proficiency in Mandarin 

• Formal training or certification in qualitative/quantitative research methodologies or data analytics is an advantage.

• Strong written communication skills, with the ability to present complex findings clearly and effectively

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting
