Regional Controller, Financial Products Division

JOB SUMMARY:

Manage and oversee the accurate and timely financial accounting and reporting functions for all Caterpillar Financial subsidiaries within the assigned region. This responsibility covers multiple Caterpillar Financial legal entities and office locations, accountable for compliance with US GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements, local statutory and regulatory reporting and the overall integrity of the financial reporting function and underlying processes. Provide leadership and support for the accurate development of the annual business plan and ongoing updated forecasts during the year for the assigned region in coordination with the Regional Vice President and local subsidiary Finance Managers, business analysis and decision support functions and accurate management reporting and analysis of region financial results. Exercise of due diligence to prevent and detect fraud and promote an organizational structure that encourages ethical conduct and a commitment to compliance with the law is also a core position responsibility. In addition, is responsible for the ongoing review of accounting and reporting-related process efficiency and cost and the identification and implementation of improvements. Provide counsel and support to the local Caterpillar Financial subsidiary and region management and may lead or provide key support to accounting and financial reporting projects. Collaborate cross-functionally by partnering closely with Legal, Compliance, Tax, Treasury, Operations, and commercial leadership teams to help identify, assess, and remediate risks, influence strategic decision-making, and promote solutions that support both business growth and strong governance.

SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND KNOWLEDGE:

• Thorough knowledge of and advanced ability to apply US GAAP, International Accounting Standards and Caterpillar Inc. procedures.
• Thorough knowledge of lease, hedge and foreign currency accounting.
• Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and methods, internal control procedures, and financial analysis.
• Advanced knowledge of and the proven ability to interpret various SEC and USGAAP regulations and recommend adjustments when changes occur.
• Advanced knowledge of and ability to apply mathematical and statistical concepts and statistics used in modeling.
• Strong decision-making and analytical skills and ability to work independently on multiple projects simultaneously, with minimal involvement from management.
• Strong interpersonal skills to develop staff and persuade others to take action.
• Thorough knowledge of and the advanced ability to provide accurate and timely financial reporting for Caterpillar Financial, internally and externally.
• Proven ability to provide accurate and timely information regarding various financial activities to Caterpillar Financial, Caterpillar Inc., and outside government agencies.
• Thorough knowledge of and the ability to maintain procedures and controls to protect the assets of the company.
• Proven ability to foster high quality standards driven by company objectives and a strong motivation for continuous improvement of Caterpillar Financial.
• Proven ability to maintain an environment conducive to collaboration across business units and job functions.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Working knowledge of captive finance company operations.
• Advanced knowledge of and ability to use the software packages associated with Caterpillar Financial accounting.
• Experience leading multinational teams in a regional and/or global environment.
• A 4-year college or university degree in accounting or a relevant business discipline
• CPA/CMA strongly preferred.
