Job Summary

Support cost management and procurement processes by preparing cost plans, managing tender documentation, evaluating contracts, and advising clients to optimize project budgets and outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed cost plans by accurately taking off quantities and pricing for projects to support budgeting and financial planning
  • Collaborate with engineers, architects, designers, and owners to review and adjust cost plans reflecting project changes
  • Advise clients on procurement strategies to ensure cost-effective and timely acquisition of services and materials
  • Support contractor pre-qualification and evaluation processes to identify suitable project partners
  • Assist in preparing tender documents, including compiling Bills of Quantities, Schedule of Works, and Schedule of Rates, and manage the tender process efficiently
  • Analyze tender returns and assist clients in negotiating pricing with contractors and subcontractors to achieve optimal contract terms
  • Evaluate and administer contracts on behalf of clients, including preparing valuations, managing variations, and finalizing accounts
  • Maintain strong working relationships with clients, design consultants, and contractors to facilitate smooth project delivery
  • Certify final payment claims and prepare comprehensive cost reports for client approval and project closure
  • Provide cost advisory support throughout all project stages, from feasibility studies to final account settlement
  • Manage workload effectively under pressure to meet tight deadlines and high client expectations
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support project and organizational goals

Preferred competencies and qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience in QS/Cost Consultancy roles
  • Experience in both pre-construction and construction phases of projects
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to adapt to various technology platforms used in project delivery
  • Strong communication skills to clearly convey information and collaborate with diverse stakeholders
  • Negotiation skills applied in contractor pricing and contract management contexts
  • Analytical and strategic thinking skills to assess project costs and procurement options
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills to ensure accuracy and structure in documentation and reporting
  • Ability to work collaboratively within teams to achieve project success
