Job Summary
The QA/QC Engineer is responsible for ensuring that elevator installation, testing, and commissioning activities comply with project specifications, applicable codes, safety standards, and company quality requirements. The role involves inspection, documentation, coordination with site teams, and ensuring defect-free project delivery.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement Project Quality Plans (PQP) and Inspection & Test Plans (ITP) to ensure quality standards for elevator installation projects
- Review and interpret technical drawings, specifications, method statements, and material submittals to verify compliance with project requirements
- Conduct incoming material inspections for elevator components to confirm conformity with specifications before installation
- Perform stage-wise inspections during elevator installation, including shaft alignment, guide rail installation, machine installation, wiring, and landing doors, to ensure workmanship quality
- Ensure adherence to local building codes, safety regulations, and international standards such as Singapore Standards Code of Practice, EN, ISO, and ASME A17.1 where applicable
- Witness testing and commissioning activities, including load tests, safety gear tests, and operational checks, to validate elevator performance and safety
- Prepare detailed inspection reports, non-conformance reports (NCRs), and corrective action reports to document quality issues and resolutions
- Coordinate with project managers, site engineers, consultants, and clients to facilitate inspections, approvals, and quality assurance processes
- Maintain comprehensive quality records and documentation for project handover dossiers
- Monitor subcontractor performance and workmanship quality to ensure compliance with project quality expectations
- Participate in internal and external audits to support continuous quality improvement
- Enforce occupational health and safety requirements throughout elevator installation activities to maintain a safe working environment
Required competencies and certifications
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering and/or Quality Management certification
- 3-7 years of experience in QA/QC within construction, preferably in elevator or vertical transportation projects
- Knowledge of elevator systems including traction, machine-room-less (MRL), and hydraulic elevators
- Familiarity with Singapore Standards Code of Practice and relevant international quality and safety standards
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documents accurately
- Strong communication and reporting skills to effectively document and convey quality issues
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Certification in QA/QC or ISO 9001 quality management systems
