Job Summary:
The Project Director will be responsible for managing the end-to-end delivery of complex railway communication solutions for Singapore's rail stations. This role requires a seasoned professional with deep expertise in railway communication systems, project management, and stakeholder engagement. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of successfully delivering large-scale, high-impact projects within the rail transportation sector, particularly in Singapore rail environments.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Project Leadership:
- Lead and manage the planning, execution, and delivery of railway communication solutions for railway stations, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
- Oversee multiple projects simultaneously, coordinating cross-functional teams, including engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
- Participate in pre-sales activities.
2. Technical Expertise:
- Provide project management, technical leadership and guidance on railway communication systems, including but not limited to train-to-ground communication, CCTV, public address systems, PABX, Information Display Systems, and fibre-optic networks.
- Ensure compliance with standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
3. Stakeholder Management:
- Act as the primary point of contact for railway operators, and other key stakeholders, fostering strong relationships and ensuring alignment on project objectives and deliverables.
- Manage stakeholder expectations, address concerns, and provide regular project updates and reports.
4. Risk Management:
- Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks, ensuring proactive measures are in place to minimize disruptions and ensure successful project outcomes.
- Develop contingency plans and lead crisis management efforts as needed.
5. Budget and Resource Management:
- Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring cost-effective use of resources and adherence to financial targets.
- Allocate resources effectively, including personnel, equipment, and materials, to meet project requirements.
6. Quality Assurance:
- Implement and enforce rigorous quality assurance processes to ensure the reliability and performance of communication systems.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections to verify compliance with project specifications and standards.
- Ensure all safety requirements are met when carrying out the projects.
7. Team Development:
- Mentor and develop project team members, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Provide leadership and direction to ensure team members are motivated, skilled, and aligned with project goals.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Telecommunications.
At least 15 years experience handling major railway communication projects, with a minimum of 10 years spent in a senior leadership position.
Solid hands-on experience with railway communication systems and tech, especially for city rail networks.
Direct experience working with Singapore's LTA and MRT/LRT operators is essential.
Well-versed in project management approaches, tools, and best practices.
Great at communicating, negotiating, and dealing with different stakeholders.
Able to handle stress, juggle several tasks at once, and get things done quickly.
Strong at solving problems and making good decisions when things get complicated.
