Project Dirctor (Construction)
We are seeking a highly experienced Project Director to lead and oversee large-scale construction projects from inception to completion. The Project Director will be responsible for strategic planning, stakeholder management, and ensuring successful delivery of projects within scope, budget, quality, safety, and timeline. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and the ability to coordinate cross-functional teams across multiple project sites.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic & Leadership:
- Provide overall leadership and direction for assigned construction projects.
- Develop project strategies, schedules, and budgets in alignment with company goals.
- Ensure all project objectives are achieved, with a focus on safety, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
- Lead and mentor project managers, engineers, and site teams to achieve high performance.
Project Planning & Execution:
- Oversee project design, tendering, procurement, and contract management.
- Monitor progress and implement corrective actions where necessary.
- Manage relationships with contractors, consultants, government authorities, and statutory boards (e.g., BCA, URA, LTA, NEA, SCDF).
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, building codes, and safety standards.
Stakeholder & Government Relations:
- Act as the key point of contact for clients, investors, and senior management.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with government statutory boards and regulatory bodies, ensuring approvals, permits, and licenses are obtained in a timely manner.
- Provide regular updates, reports, and recommendations to stakeholders.
- Represent the company in discussions with authorities on compliance, safety, and infrastructure development matters.
Risk & Financial Management:
- Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Manage project budgets, cost controls, and financial reporting.
- Negotiate contracts and resolve disputes effectively.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Minimum 15+ years of experience in construction project management, with at least 5 years in a director-level role.
- Proven track record of leading large-scale commercial, residential, or infrastructure projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, regulations, and contract law.
- Demonstrated ability to work with Singapore statutory boards and government agencies to secure project approvals and ensure compliance.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously across different geographies.
- Professional certifications (e.g., PMP, PE, MRICS) will be an added advantage.
