Job Responsibilities
Development & Exhibition Strategy
- Produce relevant, appropriate and engaging exhibitions that reflect ArtScience Museum's mission of exploring the intersections of art, science, culture, and technology.
- Research exhibition proposals that may be aligned with the musuem's institutional strategic goals.
- Conduct research on artists, institutions, scientific collaborators and technologies to inform concept development.
Project Management & CrossDepartment Coordination
- Oversee exhibition timelines, budgets and deliverables from conceptualisation to installation and deinstallation, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope and in alignment with museum objectives.
- Lead coordination with internal departments (Programmes, Marketing & Communications, Museum Services, AV/Tech, Visitor Experience, Retail etc) to ensure cohesive project delivery.
- Maintain clear communication across all project stakeholders and produce regular project updates or reports as required.
Regulations, Compliance & Museum Standards (Producer-Relevant Additions)
- Ensure all exhibition activities comply with Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) regulations, building codes, fire safety, and Marina Bay Sands operational requirements.
- Have an understanding of, and where needed apply, museum best practices including preventive conservation guidelines throughout design, installation, and exhibition operation phases.
- Review exhibition designs for sustainability and accessibility (e.g., barrierfree access, readability standards, safe circulation flow).
- Ensure compliance with environmental controls (lux levels, temperature, humidity), object handling protocols, and installation methods consistent with international museum standards.
- Conduct risk assessments as needed and contribute to Safe Work Procedures for all fabrication, installation and technical activities.
Exhibition Installation & Deinstallation
- Conduct site walks, venue checks, installation supervision, loadins and loadouts (with Museum Services and registrars), ensuring safe working conditions.
- Work with contractors, fabricators, AV/IT teams, registrars, conservators, technicians and couriers to execute installation to required museum and conservation standards.
- Review technical drawings, lighting plans, AV specifications and fabrication proposals, ensuring feasibility and compliance.
Loans Administration & Documentation
- Research potential loans and liaise with the Director, PEMS and Senior Manager, Exhibitions on loan requests, negotiations, and agreements.
- Prepare loan documentation, manage logistics, and ensure all conditions are met throughout the loan period.
- Liaise with institutional lenders, artists, scientists, and creatives on all loanrelated matters.
Collections Care & Movement
- Work with the Registrar and Assistant Registrar to facilitate condition reporting, packing/unpacking, and crate handling in line with museum best practice.
- Track movement, environmental conditions, and status of works during exhibition lifecycle.
- Liaise with Conservators, art handlers, couriers and insurance providers as necessary.
Content Development & Editorial Oversight
- Compile information for labels, text panels, publications and web content as required.
- Collate, draft and copyedit exhibition texts, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and alignment with the museum's interpretive guidelines.
- Research, request, store and return images; obtain copyright permissions for publications and communications materials.
Contracts & Legal Coordination
- Draft and prepare contracts for partner organisations, scientists, artists, curators and authors in consultation with Marina Bay Sands Legal Advisors.
- Support negotiations on deliverables, rights, fees, schedules and obligations.
Budgeting & Financial Management
- Monitor and maintain budgets for exhibitions and related publications, including obtaining estimates, raising purchase requests, processing invoices, and maintaining accurate digital and physical files.
- Work closely with the Exhibitions Administrator and Senior Administrator on procurement and finance processes.
Travel, Hospitality & Logistics
- Arrange accommodation, flights, per diems and local logistics for visiting artists, couriers, and collaborators.
- Coordinate onsite access passes, welcome schedules, and briefing materials.
Documentation, Archiving & Record-Keeping
- Maintain exhibition files, correspondence, and project documentation in accordance with museum archiving standards.
- Oversee postexhibition debriefs, archiving of design files, photographs, checklists and reports to support institutional memory.
Event & VIP Support
- Compile exhibition event guest lists in collaboration with Director, PEMS and/or Senior Manager, Exhibitions.
- Support exhibition openings, press previews, public programmes, conferences and VIP visits as necessary.
General Operations
- Respond to public and partner enquiries; maintain exhibition databases and departmental resources.
- Assist with ArtScience Museum events where appropriate.
- Undertake any other duties as assigned by the Director, PEMS.
Job Requirements
Education & Certification
- A Bachelor's Degree in Arts Management, or a related field preferred
Experiences
- Minimum 4 years experience in a similar role within museums or arts and cultural institutions with demonstrable working knowledge of event management and technical production.
Other Prerequisites
- Proven experience in project management, with the ability to deliver complex, multi-stakeholder exhibitions on time and within scope.
- Familiarity with international museum standards and best practices, including collections care, loan handling, documentation, accessibility, and WSH compliance.
- Excellent organisation skills and impeccable attention to detail, ensuring high-quality outputs across all phases of exhibition-making.
- Excellent English-language writing and editing skills, with strong accuracy in written communication for labels, contracts, and publicfacing materials.
- Ability to multitask efficiently, managing and prioritising a diverse workload in a fastpaced exhibition environment.
- Ability to make decisions and accept responsibility, particularly when coordinating installations, resolving production issues, or advising partners.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, enabling clear coordination with artists, institutions, internal teams and external vendors.
- Good negotiation skills and the ability to handle sensitive situations diplomatically, including loan negotiations, contract discussions, and artist liaison.
- Experience working directly with artists, scientists, researchers and creatives across different formats (commissioned, loaned, collaborative or coproduced work).
- Ability to work both collaboratively and independently, maintaining professionalism under pressure and adapting to shifting project needs.
- Good network of contacts in the local cultural scene, supporting partnerships, programming ideas, and operational troubleshooting.
- Proactive and selfmotivated, demonstrating initiative in identifying challenges and proposing solutions.
- Good proven computer skills, including proficiency with office productivity tools and (ideally) museumrelevant systems such as project management platforms or collections databases.
