Job Description

UVJC is a Singapore‑based deep‑tech equipment company developing next‑generation dry thin‑film printing and deposition technologies. We design and build advanced tools that bridge the gap between R&D and scalable manufacturing, enabling precision, solvent‑free fabrication across semiconductors, electronics, and emerging applications.

Shape the future with us.

Job Purpose

The Process Technician (Second Shift) supports the development and execution of Universal Vapor Jet Printing (UVJP) processes. UVJP is a novel, solvent‑free printing technology that enables precise, on‑demand deposition of patterned thin films without the use of stencils or masks. This role is essential in ensuring smooth laboratory operations, maintaining equipment readiness, and enabling high‑quality thin‑film experimentation for UVJC's R&D and engineering programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, and maintain high‑vacuum deposition and metrology equipment.
  • Prepare substrates for experimentation, including cleaning, inspection, and documentation.
  • Inspect deposited films, record process parameters, and report abnormalities to engineers.
  • Perform metrology tasks, including thickness measurements, dimensional analysis, and defect inspection.
  • Assist in chemical handling, storage, and hazardous waste management following safety protocols.
  • Perform first level of troubleshooting for equipment abnormalities and provide timely feedback to engineers.
  • Conduct routine preventive maintenance and minor repairs on laboratory tools.
  • Support process engineers in day‑to‑day laboratory activities and experimental execution.
  • Maintain accurate records of experiments, equipment logs, and material usage.
  • Follow cleanroom, laboratory, and safety protocols rigorously to ensure contamination‑free processes.

Skills

Technical Skills

Good hands-on experience working with laboratory equipment such as microscopes, profilometers, and other measurement tools. Basic understanding of vacuum systems and thin‑film processing is essential. The role uses calibrated and computerized equipment to perform substrate experimentation and must have developed fundamental understanding within the analytical/ scientific area of target specifications and tolerances, defects and deviations.

Demonstrable experience in adhering to manufacturing work orders and run sheets. Diligent documentation of analysis and results including charted data, and identified trends.

Operational And Cleanroom Skills

A strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks within a dynamic R&D environment is a key attribute. Knowledgeable in tracking and verifying vacuum systems downtime, alarms, and gas pressures. Perform change out of chemicals and handling of hazardous chemicals.

Comfortable to work independently as well as collaborating closely with engineers and other technicians in the operation of specialized processing equipment in the cleanroom.

Safety

Must be able to demonstrate strict adherence to laboratory and cleanroom safety practices. They should be able to recognise and mitigate hazards associated with chemicals, vacuum systems, and metrology equipment. A strong commitment to maintaining a safe, contamination‑free work environment is required.

Participate in continuous improvement efforts within the cleanroom, comply with established Quality System and best practices, and report areas for improvements.

Troubleshooting

Good hands-on skills to perform mechanical assembly and disassembly. Able to perform a variety of routine component adjustments and alignments to equipment. Provide technical equipment support including but not limited to general maintenance and troubleshooting on assigned instruments to ensure they remain operational and minimize downtime, and the maintenance of records for instrument calibrations and preventive maintenance.

Education

  • Diploma in an Engineering discipline

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of laboratory experience
  • Must have cleanroom experience
  • Familiarity with vacuum equipment is preferred
  • Ability to work with math proportions, percentages, graphing data, interpretation of graphed data, scientific notation, and units of dimensions (i.e. temperature, time, power, frequency, nanometers, angstroms etc.)
  • Ability to work independently for extended period of time
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and writing
  • Require intense mental and visual attention to perform accurate process work
  • Must be able to work long hours in cleanroom environment
