Job Description

Overall Job Objectives

The President will provide executive leadership and strategic direction for the company, ensuring alignment with the corporate and business vision and governance framework of the company's group.

This role is critical to driving the company's growth, operational excellence, and regional integration, particularly in aligning Southeast Asia operations with the company's proprietary retail model, merchandising strategy, and supply chain ecosystem.

The incumbent is expected to bring deep institutional knowledge of the company's business model, ensuring effective localization of the company group strategies while maintaining corporate and business standards.

Core Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Regional Alignment

  • Formulate and execute corporate strategies in alignment with the company's corporate direction and overseas expansion plans
  • Lead long-term business planning, including market positioning, expansion strategy, and capital investment initiatives
  • Drive localization of Japan HQ strategies to suit Southeast Asia market conditions while maintaining the company group consistency
  • Act as the key bridge between regional operations and Japan headquarters

Business Operations & Retail Excellence

  • Oversee end-to-end retail operations, including merchandising, store operations, and supply chain management
  • Ensure adoption and execution of PPIH's unique merchandising and category management methodologies
  • Drive operational efficiency, revenue growth, and profitability across all business units
  • Standardize operational processes in accordance with the company group frameworks and local regulatory requirements

Financial Stewardship

  • Lead corporate budgeting, financial planning, and performance management in collaboration with senior leadership
  • Oversee cost control, revenue optimization, and capital expenditure planning
  • Ensure financial performance aligns with both local targets and the company group expectations
  • Provide strategic financial insights to support business expansion and investment decisions

Executive Leadership & Talent Oversight

  • Oversee and make key decisions on hiring, promotion, transfer, and dismissal of senior executives and key personnel
  • Develop and lead a high-performing leadership team aligned with the company group culture and values
  • Provide strategic guidance and mentorship to senior management
  • Drive succession planning and leadership capability development

Compliance, Governance & Risk Management

  • Ensure full compliance with local regulatory frameworks and employment laws
  • Align internal policies with the company's corporate governance and compliance standards
  • Oversee enterprise risk management, including operational, financial, and reputational risks
  • Promote a culture of integrity, safety, and ethical business practices

Process Optimization & Corporate Transformation

  • Lead initiatives to enhance organizational efficiency, cost management, and operational effectiveness
  • Implement continuous improvement frameworks across retail operations and support functions
  • Drive innovation and transformation in line with evolving retail trends and the company's direction

Stakeholder & Group Coordination

  • Serve as the primary liaison between the company and headquarters in Japan
  • Collaborate with regional and corporate and business stakeholders on strategic initiatives and cross-border projects
  • Represent the company in high-level engagements with business partners, regulators, and key stakeholders

Others:

  • Undertake any other duties or projects as assigned by management.

Job Specifications

  • Japanese language ability is required to liaise with Japan Headquarters and vendors.
  • At least 15-20 years of progressive leadership experience in the retail industry, including senior executive roles (e.g., Director level) with the authority to make and approve key business decisions.
  • Extensive experience or similar integrated retail environments is strongly preferred
  • Proven track record in regional or international business management, merchandising strategy, category management and full P&L and operational accountability
  • Strong knowledge of Japanese retail trends, consumer behaviour, and product development cycles.
