Position Overview
The Overseas Business Development Director will be responsible for driving international growth by expanding the company's presence in overseas markets. This role requires a deep understanding of overseas business development, with a strong focus on Southeast Asia, particularly Indonesia. The Director will develop and execute strategies that account for diverse market conditions, cultural contexts, and regulatory environments, ensuring sustainable growth and long-term partnerships.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Planning & Market Expansion
- Develop and implement business development strategies to penetrate and grow target overseas markets, with emphasis on Southeast Asia and Indonesia.
- Conduct market research and analysis to identify new opportunities, customer needs, and competitor activities.
- Formulate market entry and expansion plans aligned with local regulations and business practices.
- Leverage understanding of cultural and consumer behaviors in Southeast Asia to guide business decisions.
Business Growth & Sales
- Drive revenue growth through client acquisition, partnerships, and channel development.
- Lead high-level negotiations for major overseas contracts and alliances.
- Set and monitor performance targets for sales, profitability, and market share.
Partnerships & Networking
- Build and maintain relationships with clients, distributors, government agencies, and industry stakeholders in Southeast Asia.
- Manage overseas distributors, agents, and strategic partners.
- Represent the company at international and regional trade fairs, exhibitions, and professional events.
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead and mentor regional business development teams.
- Collaborate with cross-functional departments (marketing, operations, finance, HR) to support overseas growth.
- Foster a culture of performance, innovation, and inclusivity across global teams.
Risk & Compliance Management
- Ensure compliance with local laws, international trade regulations, and company policies.
- Assess and manage business risks associated with overseas operations.
- Oversee due diligence and contract management processes for new ventures.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, International Business, Marketing, or related field (MBA preferred).
- Minimum 10 years experience in business development, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role managing overseas markets.
- Proven track record in Southeast Asia, with strong knowledge of the Indonesian market landscape and business environment.
- Demonstrated success in international sales, partnerships, and market expansion.
- Strong commercial acumen, analytical skills, and cross-cultural awareness.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to travel extensively within Southeast Asia and globally.
- Proficiency in Bahasa Indonesia or other regional languages will be an advantage.
