About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Operations Support Engineer to join infrastructure team. In this role, you will be the backbone of the IT operations, ensuring the high availability, performance, and security of hybrid infrastructure. You will leverage your deep expertise in enterprise virtualization, server administration, and modern automation tools to manage patching cycles, troubleshoot complex issues, and drive infrastructure standardization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Virtualization Management: Administer, monitor, and optimize enterprise virtualization platforms, specifically vSphere and Hyper-V, ensuring optimal resource allocation and uptime.

  • Server Administration: Perform day-to-day administration of Linux (Red Hat/CentOS/Ubuntu) and Windows Server environments, including troubleshooting, performance tuning, and user management.

  • Patch Management: Plan, test, and execute regular patching cycles for both virtual and physical servers to ensure systems are secure and compliant with organizational policies.

  • Automation & Orchestration: Develop and maintain infrastructure automation using tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or Chef to streamline configuration management and repetitive tasks.

  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Implement and manage infrastructure provisioning using Terraform and AWS CloudFormation to ensure environments are reproducible and version-controlled.

  • Container Management: Support and maintain containerized environments, utilizing technologies like Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS ECS for application deployment and orchestration.

  • Scripting & Development: Write and maintain scripts in languages such as Python, Bash, PowerShell, or Node.JS to automate operational tasks and integrate systems.

  • Incident Response: Act as an escalation point for operational incidents, performing root cause analysis and implementing long-term fixes to prevent recurrence.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience in Operations Support, Systems Administration, or DevOps roles.

  • Virtualization: Strong expertise in enterprise virtualization (VMware vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V).

  • Operating Systems:

    • Linux Administration: Deep experience with Red Hat Linux (RHEL) or CentOS.

    • Windows Administration: Deep experience with Windows Server (2016/2019/2022).

  • Scripting: Proficiency in at least two of the following: Python, Bash, PowerShell, or Node.JS.

  • Configuration Management: Practical experience with infrastructure automation tools (Ansible, Puppet, or Chef).

  • Containerization: Working knowledge of container technologies and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, AWS ECS).

  • Infrastructure as Code: Experience with Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.

Desired Certifications (One or more preferred)

  • Virtualization:

    • VMware Certified Professional (VCP)

    • Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate

  • Operating Systems:

    • Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) or Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA)

  • Cloud:

    • AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Associate/Professional)

    • AWS Certified SysOps Administrator

Technical Competencies

  • Strong understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, Load Balancing) in virtualized environments.

  • Familiarity with monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, Zabbix, Prometheus) is a plus.

  • Knowledge of disaster recovery and backup strategies.

  • Experience working in Agile/ITIL environments.
