Job Description

The Diagnostic and Imaging Department at NUH is seeking a motivated intern to assist in tackling key operational challenges. The primary focus of this internship will be to enhance the efficiency of our appointment scheduling processes and improve the overall patient experience. This intern will be integral in working with the Operations team to scope the limitations of the current appointment scheduling template and slots, and develop smarter and optimized appointment scheduling and slot templates.

Key Responsibilities

1. Collaborate with the operations team and ancillary staff to prepare datasets for analysis.

2. Conduct analyses to identify areas for improvement in appointment turnaround time (TAT) for various scans.

3. Optimize the distribution of inpatient and outpatient slots, as well as private and subsidized outpatient slots.

4. Perform the following analyses (Not limited to):

1. Linear Regression: Determine various variables affecting TAT.

2. Current State Analysis and Free-for-All Simulation: Assess the rigidity in slot demarcation and ring-fenced slots.

3. Time Series Analysis: Create predictive models using historical data to train the model.

4. Queue Theory Model: Understand patient arrival patterns, service time distribution, and system capacity requirements.

Requirements

Currently pursuing a degree in a relevant field (e.g., Data Science, Statistics, Operations Research, Healthcare Management).

Proficient in Microsoft Excel.

Experience with macro coding, R, and Python is beneficial.

Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

Must possess a can-do attitude and the ability to source solutions independently.
