Job Description

Role: Network Engineer

Location: BEDOK/CHANGI

Type of Role: Permanent

Remuneration: Base Salary - $5,000

Objectives:

  • Ensure continuous operation of network systems with minimal downtime.
  • Provide timely support, troubleshooting, and remediation of network issues.
  • Maintain secure network environments aligned with best practices.
  • Enhance network performance and scalability through proactive monitoring and maintenance.

Scope of Services:

Network Monitoring & Management

  • Monitor routers, switches, firewalls, wireless controllers, and access points.
  • Track network availability, bandwidth utilization, and device performance.
  • Configure automated alerts for outages, threshold breaches, or performance degradation.
  • Apply configuration backups and maintain version control.

Incident Management& Troubleshooting

  • Responding to network-related incidents and service disruptions.
  • Diagnosing issues related to connectivity, routing, switching, and wireless performance.
  • Restoring service within defined SLAs.
  • Providing incident reports, including root cause and corrective actions.

Preventive Maintenance

  • Scheduled maintenance windows for updates, patches, and firmware upgrades.
  • Hardware health checks(CPU, memory, temperature, error logs).
  • Optimization of configurations for performance and security.
  • Review of capacity trends and recommendations for scaling.

Network SecurityServices

  • Firewall policy reviews and updates.
  • Intrusion detection/prevention monitoring (if applicable).
  • Vulnerability identification and remediation recommendations.
  • Management of VPN configurations and remote-access policies.
  • Enforcement of network segmentation and access control best practices.

Network Documentation& Reporting

  • Network topology diagrams.
  • Asset inventory ofnetwork hardware and software.
  • Configuration documentation for all managed devices.
  • Monthly performance reports covering:
  1. Uptime and incident summary.
  2. Security events.
  3. Capacity/utilization metrics.
  4. Recommendations for improvements.

Change Management

  • Planning, reviewing,and executing network changes and upgrades.
  • Performing impact analysis and obtaining necessary approvals.
  • Implementing changes according to best practices and scheduled windows.
  • Documenting all changes for audit and compliance purposes.

Service LevelAgreements (SLAs):

Response Time

  • Critical incident(network outage): Response within 2 hours.
  • High severity (major performance degradation): Response within 4 hours.
  • Medium severity: Response within 8 hours.
  • Service request: Response within 2 business days for urgent request, 5-10 business daysfor normal request.

Availability

  • Network monitoring tools: 24/7
  • On-call support: 24/7 standby support
  • Scheduled maintenance: Communicated with at least 72 hours notice

In-Scope Equipment & Systems:

  • Routers
  • Layer 2/3 switches
  • Firewalls
  • Wireless controllersand access points
  • SD-WAN devices
  • Network monitoring andlogging tools
  • VPN and remote access systems
  • Server room/closet network equipment (racks, UPS, patch panels)

Out-of-Scope Services:

  • Cabling installation or physical construction services
  • Non-network server or application support
  • Hardware procurement(unless specified as an add-on service)
  • Major network re-design projects (covered under separate SOW)

Client Responsibilities:

  • Provide remote access to network systems as needed.
  • Maintain up-to-date licenses and warranties for network devices.
  • Notify the Service Provider of planned facility changes or expansions.
  • Provide point-of-contact for approvals, scheduling, and incident communication.

Deliverables:

  • Network monitoring setup and ongoing management.
  • Monthly performance and security reports.
  • Updated network documentation.
  • Incident tickets and post-incident reviews.
  • Preventive maintenance reports.
  • Change management logs.

Requirements:

  • Minimum Degree in Computer Science or relevant disciplines.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in ITSupport and Troubleshooting, System Administration and Network Fundamentals.
  • Possess Cisco CCNA Networking Certification.
