This role oversees the deployment and administration of enterprise-scale network infrastructure, ensuring that all interconnected systems maintain peak performance and maximum operational availability.
Duties and responsibilities
- Infrastructure Optimisation: Administer and maintain WAN, LAN, and Wi-Fi networks to ensure peak performance and maximum availability.
- Hardware Governance: Ensure all network assets, including routers, switches, load balancers, wireless controllers, and firewalls remain in good working condition.
- Technical Troubleshooting: Resolve complex network and security incidents, addressing performance bottlenecks and capacity constraints.
- Critical Incident Response: Provide rapid support for production outages, including hardware restoration during and outside of standard business hours.
- Technical Documentation: Lead the management of network configurations, firmware versions, network diagrams, and end-device cabling records.
- Consultancy & Project Management: Provide technical support and consultation, conduct procurement, and perform project management activities for enhancement and change in Network and Security configuration.
- Continuous Improvement: Define infrastructure processes and spearhead service initiatives to elevate operational quality and team productivity.
- Security Coordination: Partner with external vendors for security audits and penetration testing collaborate with the cybersecurity team to remediate infrastructure vulnerabilities.
- Stakeholder Reporting: Execute specialised network projects and auxiliary tasks as directed by senior IT leadership.
Qualifications & Competencies
- Academic Background: Holds a Diploma, Bachelor's degree, or advanced qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Professional Certifications: CCNA certification is preferred additional security-related certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+, CEH, or PCNSE) will be viewed favorably.
- Network Protocol Expertise: Proficient in configuring and managing complex environments, including BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VPN Tunnels (GRE/IPSec), VRF, and VXLAN.
- Layer 2/3 Proficiency: Deep understanding of HSRP/VRRP, QoS, IP Accounting, NAT/PAT, Port Channels, and Policy-Based Routing.
- Security Infrastructure: Hands-on experience with enterprise-grade security appliances, specifically Cisco FirePower and Palo Alto networks.
- Network Management & Monitoring: Familiarity with deploying and configuring NMS tools, including Forescout, SolarWinds, and NetFlow (MRTG/PRTG).
- Traffic Management: Competency in managing high-availability environments using F5 Networks or A10 Load Balancers.
- Compliance & Procurement: Experienced in executing security remediation audits and contributing to the technical requirements for RFP/RFQ tender processes.

Additional Information
- Employment Terms: This position is offered as a one-year renewable contract, with the possibility of extension based on performance and organisational requirements.
- Work Schedule: The role operates on a five-day work week.
- Operational Readiness: Candidates must be available for after-hours standby duties. This includes performing incident management, emergency hardware restoration, or scheduled system maintenance during off-peak hours to ensure minimal disruption to enterprise services.
