Job Title: Mechanical Engineer (HVAC / Ducting - Construction Industry)
Job Summary
We are seeking a qualified and proactive Mechanical Engineer specializing in HVAC and ducting systems to support design, coordination, and execution of construction projects. The role involves overseeing ducting works from design development through installation, ensuring compliance with project specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop HVAC ducting systems for commercial, residential, and industrial construction projects.
- Prepare and review technical drawings, calculations, and specifications for ducting and ventilation systems.
- Collaborate with consultants, architects, and MEP teams to ensure proper integration of mechanical systems.
- Conduct site inspections to monitor installation progress, quality, and compliance with approved drawings.
- Review and approve shop drawings and material submittals from contractors.
- Ensure all ducting works comply with local codes, standards, and project requirements.
- Support project planning, scheduling, and cost estimation related to mechanical works.
- Identify and resolve design conflicts and installation issues through coordination meetings.
- Oversee testing and commissioning of HVAC systems, including air balancing.
- Prepare documentation such as as-built drawings, reports, and operation manuals.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum 3-7 years of experience in HVAC/ducting within the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC design principles, duct sizing, airflow calculations, and system layouts.
- Proficiency in engineering and drafting software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or BIM tools.
- Familiarity with local building regulations and industry standards.
- Experience in coordinating MEP services on construction projects.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines.
- Good communication and teamwork abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in BIM coordination and clash detection.
- Knowledge of energy-efficient and sustainable HVAC design practices.
- Professional certification or membership (e.g., PE, CEng) is an advantage.
