Direct day-to-day tanker operations to keep voyages running smoothly, safely, and on schedule while meeting terminal and charterer expectations.
Drive compliance with international/local maritime rules and customer/terminal operating standards, ensuring consistent adherence across the fleet.
Plan, coordinate, and close out marine management, navigation, and third-party audits/inspections, including ISM, ISPS, and MLC engagements with Recognised Organisations (RO).
Lead vetting readiness and execution, including submissions and follow-ups on the OCIMF SIRE online platform.
Elevate sea staff capability by continuously assessing competency against the Safety Management System and arranging targeted coaching and development.
Oversee safe execution of marine operations in line with the Safety Management System, ensuring robust operational control and risk awareness.
Ensure vessels maintain current onboard notices, nautical publications, and operational references to support navigational and compliance readiness.
Govern maintenance assurance for cargo and navigation equipment-confirming timely servicing, repair, and replacement to sustain reliability and performance.
Manage incident response and learning: steer investigations, validate root-cause analysis, and enforce corrective/preventive actions to prevent recurrence.
Provide leadership and stewardship for the Marine Department by delegating effectively, coordinating P&I survey activity, reporting performance to senior stakeholders, and managing departmental budgeting and cost discipline.
Requirements
Master Mariner background with CoC Class 1 or 2 (or equivalent).
At least 7 years of shore-based experience in SHEQ / compliance for product or chemical tankers.
Strong working knowledge of international and local maritime regulations and inspection/audit frameworks (e.g., ISM/ISPS/MLC, vetting).
Proven leadership and people management capability able to coach, motivate, and build accountable teams.
High integrity, professionalism, and clear communication skills to partner effectively with terminals, charterers, customers, and third parties.
