Overview
We are partnering with a global firm to appoint a Senior Marine Broker.
This is a senior leadership role responsible for driving the strategic direction, growth, and delivery of Marine insurance and risk solutions. The position combines client advisory, technical broking expertise, team leadership, and business development across a broad range of Marine risks.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the Marine team to achieve financial and operational targets
- Drive a high-performance culture through coaching, mentorship, and talent development
- Provide technical guidance on complex Marine risks, placements, and client servicing
- Act as a senior advisor to key clients, delivering tailored risk and insurance solutions
- Advise on contractual insurance requirements and regulatory obligations
- Build and maintain relationships with senior client stakeholders
- Lead new business development initiatives and strategic client acquisition
- Drive participation in pitches, RFPs, and cross-selling opportunities
- Identify emerging market opportunities within the Marine sector
- Drive optimal use of market facilities and placement strategies
- Oversee claims handling processes, including advocacy on complex claims
Requirements
- Minimum 10+ years of experience in Marine insurance (broking, underwriting, or advisory)
- Strong technical expertise across Marine lines across Cargo, Hull & Machinery, P&I, Liabilities
- Proven leadership experience managing and developing teams
- Strong track record in client relationship management and business development
- Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills
- Strong commercial acumen and strategic mindset
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional insurance qualifications (e.g. ACII or equivalent)
- Experience managing large, complex or multinational Marine programmes
- Exposure to regional or global insurance markets
