Manager, Trading

We are supporting a confidential search for a senior leadership role within a global commodities platform, focused on the metals value chain. This position sits within a business development function and has regional / global exposure, reporting into senior management.

The role will lead and oversee metals trading activities, covering both physical products and derivatives, while also driving strategic growth initiatives and strengthening market presence. The individual will manage a small specialist team, work closely with internal stakeholders across trading, risk, operations, legal and finance, and engage regularly with external counterparties and partners.

Key elements of the role include:

• Leadership of trading activities (physical and financial), ensuring disciplined execution, strong risk management, and compliance with internal and external requirements.
• People leadership, including team development, performance management, and day-to-day oversight.
• Business development, identifying new counterparties, supply chains, and structured trading opportunities.
• Strategic planning and budgeting, aligning local activities with broader regional and global strategies.
• Risk oversight, including exposure management, counterparty risk, and hedging activities.
• Market intelligence, maintaining strong industry networks and translating market insights into actionable trading strategies.

The ideal candidate will be a seasoned commodities professional with extensive experience in metals market, a strong understanding of derivatives and risk management, and proven capability in leading teams and engaging senior stakeholders. Strong communication skills, commercial judgment, and the ability to operate in a fast-moving, regulated trading environment are essential.
