Job Description

  • Course Feedback
    • Serve as the key contact for PG course feedback matters. This includes coordinating with stakeholders and administrative colleagues to ensure the smooth operation of course feedback systems and processes.
    • Conduct in-depth analyses to investigate PG course feedback trends, and produce both regular and ad-hoc reports as requested by senior management.
    • Review course feedback processes and system functions and make recommendations for enhancements. This includes working with the IT team and Programme Managers to ensure implementation.
    • Pending stakeholders needs, provide thought leadership on course feedback questions and reports.
    • Provide Assistant Director (Feedback) with administrative support on the undergraduate course feedback exercise.
  • Teaching Awards
    • Manage and improve teaching excellence award processes, with a focus on PG. This includes the review of criteria, call for nominations, processing of submissions, and selection of recipients by a university teaching committee.
    • Provide Assistant Director (Feedback) secretarial support in engaging management as well as coordinating with a university committee that selects award recipients, with support from administrative staff.
    • Provide Assistant Director (Feedback) support in planning and executing the annual SMU Teaching Excellence Awards Ceremony, including follow-up initiatives to promote best practices.
  • Faculty Development
    • Provide consultations to faculty, particularly on course feedback reports, to help them improve and innovate in their teaching.
    • Support the design and implementation of CTE's learning opportunities for faculty to improve and innovate in teaching. This includes collaborating with undergraduate and lifelong learning counterparts, where appropriate.
    • Support the creation of a variety of pedagogical resources useful for faculty.
    • Act as the repository for and steward of CTE's PG teaching policies and guidelines.
    • Conduct literature reviews and contribute to CTE's evidence-based recommendations for teaching and learning.
  • Work closely with stakeholders such as Senior management, faculty, Dean's and Programme Offices, and CTE colleagues to execute the above.
  • Manage timelines, budgets, and deliverables for the above-mentioned programmes with assistance from administrative colleagues.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Degree with at least 5 years of relevant work experience. Candidates with experience in higher education are preferred.
  • Familiarity with running institutional surveys and managing large data sets, particularly in the context of teaching.
  • Experience in using statistical tools and concepts to interpret quantitative and qualitative findings to make recommendations.
  • Strong knowledge in pedagogical approaches, best practices and issues related to student feedback on teaching, particularly in higher education.
  • Experience in curriculum planning, design and implementation.
  • Experience in workflow automation and event management would be an advantage.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify issues, assess constraints, weigh options and propose alternate solutions for continual improvement
  • Strong orientation towards communicating data insights in a manner that is coherent for stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong inclination for stewarding sensitive data based on policy and due process
  • Excellent interpersonal and listening skills, and possess a service-oriented approach when supporting senior management, schools, offices, faculty and students.
  • Excellent organisational skills, with a sharp eye for details.
  • Excellent team player, with initiative and the ability to work independently.
  • Excellent time management, persistence and the ability to multitask.
