The Manager, Decarbonisation & Fuels is responsible for leading the company's long-term decarbonisation strategy and driving initiatives related to alternative fuels, energy efficiency, emissions compliance, and innovative technologies. In addition to strategic and project leadership in decarbonisation, the role provides functional oversight and supervisory accountability for Bunkering and Post-Fixtures operations, ensuring alignment between commercial execution, fuel procurement, emissions regulations, and the company's decarbonisation objectives.
The role requires strong technical knowledge of conventional and alternative fuels, global and regional emissions regulations (including EU ETS and FuelEU), financial modelling, and the ability to translate strategy into operational execution through cross-functional leadership and governance.
3.1. Decarbonisation Strategy & Leadership
3.1.1. Lead the development, implementation, and continuous refinement of the company's long-term decarbonisation strategy in close coordination with technical, operations, chartering, commercial, and finance teams.
3.1.2. Initiate, evaluate, and lead projects related to alternative fuels, energy efficiency improvements, emissions reduction technologies, and innovative solutions.
3.1.3. Monitor global and regional regulatory developments (e.g. EU ETS, FuelEU Maritime) and ensure strategic and operational readiness.
3.1.4. Lead EUA procurement and FuelEU trading activities in alignment with regulatory requirements and commercial strategy
3.2. Supervisory Oversight - Bunkering Operations
3.2.1. Provide strategic and managerial oversight of bunkering operations, ensuring bunker procurement strategies (including alternative fuels) are aligned with decarbonisation objectives, emissions compliance, and cost optimisation goals.
3.2.2. Oversee bunker procurement governance, including supplier evaluation, dispute management (quantity and quality), and compliance with ISO procedures and regulatory standards.
3.2.3. Guide and review long-term bunker and alternative fuel sourcing strategies, including term contracts, pricing structures, and risk mitigation tools.
3.2.4. Ensure bunkering data, dashboards, and reporting support emissions reporting, regulatory compliance, and decarbonisation analytics.
3.2.5. Provide leadership direction to the bunkering team through the respective functional manager, including capability development, training needs, and performance oversight
3.3. Supervisory Oversight - Post-Fixtures Operations
3.3.1. Provide functional oversight of post-fixture operations to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant invoicing related to freight, hire, demurrage, reimbursements, EU ETS, and FuelEU charges.
3.3.2. Ensure post-fixture billing, recoverables, and reporting processes support emissions cost recovery and regulatory compliance objectives.
3.3.3. Review and monitor management reporting on post-fixture activities, highlighting financial, compliance, and process risks linked to emissions-related charges.
3.3.4. Provide governance oversight on process improvements, automation initiatives, and systems usage (e.g. IMOS) to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and audit readiness.
3.3.5. Oversee talent development, performance review, and workflow governance of the post-fixtures function through the respective functional manager
3.4. Financial Modelling, Planning & Business Support
3.4.1. Lead financial modelling and scenario analysis related to fuel choices, emissions exposure, regulatory compliance costs, and decarbonisation investments.
3.4.2. Support chartering and commercial teams by articulating the commercial and environmental value of the company's decarbonisation initiatives in business development activities.
3.4.3. Ensure alignment between emissions strategy, bunker procurement, and post-fixture cost recovery mechanisms.
3.5. Stakeholder Engagement & Representation
3.5.1. Liaise with external stakeholders, including regulators, industry bodies, suppliers, and partners, on decarbonisation, alternative fuels, and emissions compliance topics.
3.5.2. Represent the company at public forums, industry events, and regulatory discussions related to sustainability and decarbonisation.
3.5.3. Lead internal awareness and training initiatives on decarbonisation, emissions regulations, and operational implications across functions
