Summary:
Gulf Mercantile Exchange (GME) is home to the world's largest physically settled oil contract. As it expands into new commodity markets GME is seeking a Manager - Business Development: Asia who will be based in Singapore, working closely with GME colleagues in Dubai, and KSA, and reporting to the Chief Growth Officer.
The role will primarily focus on managing and growing business from existing regional energy clients, as well as driving growth through new client development across all commodities as we develop new products and services to cater to the markets.
Essential Duties:
· Manage the existing relationships with GME's Asian Energy customers, particularly in Singapore, Hong Kong and Mainland China.
· Identify new business opportunities in the region and potential improvements to GME's products and solutions.
· Development of new commercial relationships for new and existing GME products.
· Build close relationships with FCMs, data vendors, traders, brokers, props and other stakeholders in the region.
· Manage and report trends in derivatives trading and regulation in Asia-Pacific to ensure continuous adaptability.
· Create sales campaigns in both English and Mandarin based on GME's strategic goals whilst working with marketing team to develop social media content and campaign ideas
· Circulate meeting reports and update customer contact information as appropriate.
· The Chicago Mercantile Exchange is a major shareholder of the GME: Working closely with our friends and colleagues at the CME's Asia offices, to maximize cross-selling opportunities, will be an important part of the roles responsibilities.
· Attend industry events and make presentations as required.
Key Skills & Experience
· Minimum 5 years of experience in the core or closely related industry, with demonstrable responsibility in managing a portfolio of customers and growth targets.
· Strong knowledge of commodity markets from both a derivatives and physical perspective. Crude Oil, Refined Products are essential, and Metals and Ags are desirable.
· Comprehensive knowledge of market structures and regulatory challenges in both derivatives and physical trading markets; particularly of the Chinese mainland trading environment and the access requirements to global markets and market data.
· Understanding of trading strategies and products from the perspective of Exchange and OTC trading.
· A Self-Starter with desire to take responsibility to identify and execute business opportunities in Asia.
· Proficiency in mainstream CRM and data analytics tools.
· Excellent communication and presentation skills in both English and Mandarin.
· Willingness to travel through the Asian region as required.
Academic Background
· Minimum of a bachelor's degree in business, finance and/or related discipline.
