Job Summary
As Business Development Manager, you will drive SKOOL21's growth across Southeast Asia by managing distributor partnerships, building school and government relations, and expanding into new regional markets.
Responsibilities
- Manage distributor partnerships in the Philippines, Malaysia, and Indonesia to increase sales and market presence
- Develop outreach strategies and build relationships with kindergartens and primary schools in Singapore to expand customer base
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with Singapore's Ministry of Education and lead tender submissions to secure government contracts
- Organize and engage homeschooling community events in Singapore to promote SKOOL21's educational products
- Research and identify potential distributors and market opportunities in China to support regional expansion
- Expand distribution channels into new Asia Pacific markets through targeted business development activities
- Prepare and submit books for Singapore Book Awards and relevant government tenders to enhance brand recognition
- Apply for product-related government grants to secure funding and support business initiatives
- Plan and coordinate regional exhibitions and events to showcase SKOOL21's offerings and generate leads
- Collaborate with distributors to coordinate marketing materials and promotional campaigns for effective market penetration
- Conduct client outreach via email, calls, appointments, and presentations to drive sales and partnerships
- Perform market research to identify new schools and clients for business growth
- Coordinate training sessions with the academic team to ensure distributors and clients are well-informed about products
- Liaise with Finance to manage invoicing and billing processes accurately and timely
- Engage actively with the Singapore Education Network and Singapore Book Publishers Association to build industry connections
Required competencies and certifications
- 3-5 years of experience in business development, sales, or account management within EdTech, educational publishing, or related sectors
- Fluency in Mandarin (written and spoken) to effectively communicate with regional partners and stakeholders
- Willingness and ability to travel regularly to the Philippines, Malaysia, and Indonesia for business activities
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Existing relationships with Southeast Asian distributors or Ministries of Education to facilitate market entry and growth
- Experience with government tender processes to enhance success in securing contracts
- Commercially minded, self-driven, and aligned with SKOOL21's mission in STEM education
