We are looking for a highly skilled and proactive System Engineer with strong Linux expertise to support, maintain, and enhance our enterprise infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience managing Unix/Linux environments while also supporting Windows-based systems, virtualization platforms, and storage solutions.
You will play a key role in ensuring system stability, security, and performance, working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable and resilient IT services.
Job Responsibilities:
1. Linux / Unix (Primary Focus)
- Provide end-to-end administration, support, and troubleshooting for Linux/Unix systems this is a mandatory requirement.
- Perform OS hardening, patching, performance tuning, and log analysis on Linux platforms.
- Automate routine tasks using shell scripting or other scripting languages.
- Manage Linux-based services, system monitoring, and configuration management.
2. Windows & Infrastructure Support
- Manage, upgrade, and migrate Windows Server environments (in-place and full migrations).
- Administer Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and related core services.
- Troubleshoot hardware and software issues across Intel-based platforms, especially Lenovo systems.
- Perform monthly OS patching and application upgrades across both Linux and Windows environments.
3. Virtualization & Storage
- Deploy, manage, and support virtual environments using VMware or Nutanix.
- Handle VM provisioning, lifecycle management, and day2 operations.
- Manage NAS storage, iSCSI solutions, and capacity upgrades (scale-up/scale-out).
4. Security & Compliance
- Implement security best practices across Linux and Windows systems.
- Remediate vulnerabilities identified in monthly security scans.
- Support yearly audit activities such as Host Compliance Reports and ASA reviews.
5. Backup, Monitoring & Documentation
- Work with enterprise backup solutions such as Commvault or NetBackup.
- Support endpoint and server protection tools (e.g., Trend Micro Deep Security).
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation for systems, configurations, and operational processes.
- Manage IT asset inventory within ITSM tools.
6. Collaboration & Operations
- Work closely with application teams to resolve incidents and support deployments.
- Perform system patches, upgrades, and maintenance during approved windows.
- Provide on-call support as required.
Qualifications:
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
- Hands-on experience supporting Unix/Linux systems is mandatory.
- Experience managing Windows Server environments (2016, 2019, 2022).
- Strong understanding of AD, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy.
- Experience working in regulated or compliance-driven environments.
- Proficiency with virtualization technologies (VMware, Nutanix).
- Experience with enterprise backup tools (Commvault, NetBackup).
- Familiarity with patch management tools (BMC, WSUS).
Certifications (Preferred):
- Linux certifications (RHEL, RHCSA, RHCE, or equivalent) strongly preferred.
- Microsoft certifications (MCSA, MCSE).
- VMware (VCP) or Nutanix certifications.
- ITIL Foundation.
