Legal Counsel (Oil & Gas)

We are partnering with a globally established Oil & Gas trading company to hire a Legal Counsel (2–3 PQE). This role sits close to the business and offers direct exposure to physical and/or derivatives trading activities, supporting front-office stakeholders in a fast-paced commodities environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide legal support on crude oil / refined products trading activities (physical and/or paper)
• Draft, review and negotiate trading agreements (e.g. SPAs, GTCs, confirmations, framework agreements)
• Advise on shipping and logistics matters, including charterparties, bills of lading, and demurrage issues
• Support on trade finance documentation (e.g. LCs, security arrangements)
• Provide legal input on risk, compliance, and regulatory matters across trading jurisdictions
• Work closely with traders, operators, and risk teams on day-to-day transactions and disputes

Requirements:

• Qualified lawyer with 2–3 years of PQE
• Experience in a top-tier law firm and/or in-house trading environment
• Exposure to commodities trading and/or shipping work is strongly preferred
• Familiarity with Oil & Gas trading structures will be advantageous
• Commercially minded, responsive, and comfortable working in a front-office facing role
