Legal Counsel, Junior

We are partnering with a well-established global commodities trading firm with a strong presence in the energy markets. Due to continued growth in their trading activities, they are looking to hire a Junior Legal Counsel to support their commercial and trading operations in Singapore. This role will work closely with trading, operations, and risk teams, providing legal support across a broad range of commercial transactions and ensuring legal risks are effectively managed within a fast-paced trading environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice and support on commercial and trading-related matters within the commodities trading business
• Draft, review, negotiate, and interpret a wide range of commercial contracts and trading agreements
• Support trading activities involving sale and purchase agreements, logistics arrangements, charterparties, and related documentation
• Work closely with traders, operators, and other internal stakeholders to identify legal risks and provide practical solutions
• Assist in the management of disputes, claims, and contractual interpretations when required
• Ensure trading activities and contractual arrangements comply with relevant regulatory requirements and internal policies
• Support the development and review of standard contract templates and internal legal processes

Requirements

• Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or equivalent legal qualification
• 25 years of relevant legal experience, ideally within commodities trading, shipping, energy, or international trade
• Experience reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts or trading documentation
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to provide practical, business-oriented legal advice
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, commercial trading environment
