Are you a senior full-stack engineer / team lead who wants to build products that matter in a modern, agile engineering environment

Hyphen is partnering with a digital product and engineering unit within a confidential public-sector agency, to hire a Lead Software Engineer / Team Lead.

This unit was set up to bring modern software engineering, product thinking, and agile delivery into the force. The team builds bespoke digital products that solve real operational problems.

This is not a traditional government technology role.

You'll be joining a high-performance engineering team with a flat structure, agile technical culture, and the freedom to experiment, ship, and improve how software is built within the defence ecosystem.

The opportunity

As a Team Lead / Lead Software Engineer, you'll help shape the technical direction of products and engineering standards.

Depending on your strengths, this could suit either:

A senior hands-on IC who wants to own architecture, design, and delivery across the stack.

Or a team lead who enjoys mentoring engineers, setting engineering direction, and staying close enough to the code to make strong technical decisions.

You'll work on impactful products for the group, solving real-world operational challenges with modern full-stack software.

The Role

You'll be building and leading across the full product lifecycle:

• Designing, building, testing, and shipping scalable software products
• Working closely with product managers, designers, engineers, and stakeholders
• Leading technical decisions across frontend, backend, infrastructure, and DevOps
• Mentoring engineers and raising engineering standards across the team
• Finding practical ways to move fast, cut through bureaucracy, and deliver useful products

Tech stack

You'll be working with a modern web and cloud stack:

Frontend: React
Backend: Node.js, TypeScript, SQL, ElasticSearch
Infra: AWS
DevOps: GitLab, CI/CD, Terraform
Other languages: Python in selected systems

Requirements

You should have:

• 8+ years of software engineering experience
• Engineering / DeliveryManagement experience (required for the team lead role)
• Full-stack engineering experience, ideally with TypeScript, React, Node.js, and AWS
• Good understanding of secure software development, CI/CD, Git, Terraform, and cloud deployment
• A collaborative approach to mentoring, technical leadership, and product delivery
  
• This role is open to Singapore Citizens only due to security clearance requirements.
