Role Overview

The Lead, Safety & Quality Management leads the design and implementation of organisation-wide policies, processes, and frameworks that strengthen workplace safety and quality across FairPrice Group. This role drives the digitalisation and automation of systems to enhance risk governance, performance visibility, and efficiency through data analytics and real-time insights. Working cross-functionally, the incumbent will embed a growth mindset culture that empowers teams to learn, innovate, and take ownership for continuous improvement; ensuring that safety and quality remain strategic enablers of FPG's purpose of Every Day, Made A Little Better.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership and Governance

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive Safety & Quality strategy that aligns with FPG's transformation, operational excellence, and people-first agenda.
  • Design, review, and maintain policies, processes, and governance frameworks that integrate safety and quality into all business decisions and operational touchpoints.
  • Ensure compliance with the Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) Act, ISO standards, and other relevant statutory requirements.
  • Establish data-driven dashboards and predictive analytics to identify risks, track performance, and enable proactive decision-making.
  • Lead internal and external audits, inspections, and assurance reviews, ensuring robust risk governance and continuous improvement.

Systems, Processes, and Digital Transformation

  • Drive the digitalisation and automation of safety and quality systems to enable real-time tracking, reporting, and analytics.
  • Partner with Technology and Transformation teams to leverage AI, IoT, and data tools for real-time risk monitoring and predictive insights.
  • Streamline and standardise operational processes to improve efficiency, scalability, and transparency.
  • Build scalable frameworks that support business growth while maintaining a strong culture of compliance and accountability.

Workplace Safety, Health & Well-being

  • Strengthen WSH management systems, including risk assessments, incident investigation, and emergency preparedness.
  • Promote a safety-first culture, where every employee is empowered to identify, report, and address hazards.
  • Champion employee well-being programmes, including ergonomics, mental health, and holistic workplace health initiatives.
  • Lead training, communication, and engagement activities that build awareness and capability at every level of the organisation.

Capability Development and Culture Enablement

  • Define and track KPIs for safety, quality, and operational health to measure progress and drive accountability.
  • Build organisational capability through digital learning, knowledge-sharing, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Embed GMIA values to nurture a learning, resilient, and improvement-driven culture.
  • Foster psychological safety and open communication, enabling employees to voice risks, share ideas, and innovate.

Success Profiles

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Safety Management, Occupational Health, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in workplace safety, quality, or operational excellence, including 5 years in a leadership capacity within a large or complex organisation.
  • Strong understanding of WSH regulations, risk management systems, and compliance frameworks.
  • Proven experience in digital transformation and automation projects that enhance safety, quality, and operational performance.
  • Proficient in data analytics and dashboarding tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Qlik, Google Studio) for insights, trend analysis, and reporting.
  • Skilled in stakeholder engagement, cross-functional collaboration, and change leadership.
  • Passionate about building a safe, people-first, and growth-oriented culture that aligns with FPG's transformation journey.
