Role Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Rotating Equipment Mechanical Package Engineer to support the design, specification, procurement, and delivery of critical rotating equipment packages for a major offshore FPSO project.
This role requires deep technical expertise in gas turbines and compressor packages, along with proven experience in offshore oil & gas environments. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring equipment integrity, performance, and compliance with project and industry standards throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering & Design
- Develop and review specifications, datasheets, and requisitions for rotating equipment packages, including:
- Gas turbine generators and drivers
- Gas compression systems (e.g., export, reinjection, lift gas compressors)
- Perform technical evaluations of vendor proposals and participate in bid clarification processes
- Ensure compliance with international standards (API, ISO, IEC) and project specifications
- Review and approve vendor documents such as GA drawings, P&IDs, calculations, and procedures
Package Management
- Act as the technical focal point for assigned rotating equipment packages
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams (process, piping, electrical, instrumentation)
- Monitor vendor progress, ensuring adherence to schedule, quality, and technical requirements
- Participate in design reviews, HAZOPs, and model reviews
Vendor & Fabrication Oversight
- Interface with OEMs and package vendors for gas turbines and compressors
- Attend and support FAT (Factory Acceptance Tests), inspections, and performance testing
- Review manufacturing and assembly processes to ensure quality and compliance
Installation & Commissioning
- Provide technical support during installation, pre-commissioning, and commissioning phases
- Troubleshoot mechanical and operational issues related to rotating equipment
- Support performance testing and handover activities
Mandatory Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
- Minimum 10–15 years of experience in rotating equipment engineering within oil & gas
- Extensive hands-on experience with both:
- Gas turbine packages (aeroderivative and/or heavy-duty)
- Compressor systems (centrifugal and/or axial, including driver integration)
- Proven experience working on offshore FPSO or floating production projects
- Strong knowledge of relevant standards (API 616, API 617, API 618, API 614, etc.)
- Demonstrated experience managing vendor packages from FEED through execution
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience with major EPC contractors or FPSO operators
- Familiarity with topsides modularization and offshore integration constraints
- Experience with condition monitoring systems and reliability engineering
- Chartered Engineer status or equivalent professional accreditation
