The Lead Planner is responsible for leading project scheduling and planning, ensuring projects stay on track, and identifying potential risks and delays. The role will develop and maintains schedules, monitor progress, and report on project performance, using software like Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project. It also involves collaborating with project teams, stakeholders, and other planners to align the execution plan with project goals. The Lead Planner role is crucial for ensuring that projects are delivered on time and to the required quality standards. They are the driving force behind project scheduling and planning, working to identify and mitigate risks and optimize project performance. This role will report functionally to BWO Project Services department manager and to the Project Services manager of any project assigned.
Key Tasks And Responsibilities
- Creating and maintaining comprehensive project schedules, including critical path analysis, schedule forecasting, and what-if scenario planning.
- Responsible for development of project schedules, covering all phases of Projects from concept development, tender, bids, FEEDs, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, execution, modification to completion, and contribute to overall project plan
- Actively forecast and reschedule project plans and schedules, including formal baseline revisions Carry out Schedule Risk Analyses using Primavera Risk Analyzer
- Ensure that all relevant Client and BWO planning requirements are applied as required
- Review Contractors planning procedures for planning, progress tracking and contractor detailed schedules
- Tracking project progress, identifying delays and variances, and preparing reports for stakeholders
- Responsible for organization and preparation of project progress reports, and support the project manager in monitoring, analysing, and forecasting performance
- Manage and supervise project planning personnel
- Act as a mentor and resource for new employees, less experienced colleagues and consultants
- Participate in development and maintenance of standard execution schedule for FPSO new builds, conversion projects and modification projects
- Carry out analysis and benchmarking to optimize plans and schedules
- Develop and maintain historical data of engineering/construction norms for use in bid proposals and future bench marking initiatives
- Working with project managers and discipline leads to effectively allocate resources (manpower, equipment, materials) to support project activities
- Identifying and assessing potential risks, developing mitigation strategies, and contingency plans
- Fostering communication and collaboration among cross-functional teams, providing regular updates, and participating in meetings
- Establishing KPIs, monitoring project performance, and identifying opportunities for improvement
- Attending and guiding client progress meetings, building relationships, and providing planning advice
- Addressing schedule deviations, identifying and resolving bottlenecks, and ensuring alignment with contractual deadlines
Qualifications
- Bachelors or masters degree in engineering
- 15+ years of engineering/construction experience within the offshore industry, including Project Controls with specific focus on planning
- Previous FPSO experience
- International and multi-cultural experience
- 10-15 years experience in planning software, in particular Primavera
