We are looking for a highly motivated Naval Architect with proven expertise in developing and executing engineering solutions for project cargo transport. The role focuses on windmill component transport, deck cargo carriage, lashing and lifting arrangements, transport engineering, and structural load spread analysis. The candidate will play a key role in bridging technical analysis with operational execution, ensuring compliance with class and owner requirements while supporting safe and efficient cargo transport.
Key Responsibilities
. Develop and review lashing and securing plans, lifting plans, and transport engineering documentation for project and heavy-lift cargoes, including windmill components.
. Perform and coordinate structural load spread analysis for cargoes on bulk carriers and other vessels with contractors.
. Provide stability and strength assessments related to deck and hold cargoes, ensuring compliance with international regulations, class society requirements, and owner standards.
. Collaborate with operations, chartering, and port captain teams to design fit-for-purpose transport solutions.
. Prepare drawings, technical reports, and supporting documents for approvals by class societies, owners, and regulatory authorities.
. Support cargo feasibility studies and risk assessments during project planning and tendering.
. Lead communication with shipyards, consultants, and engineering partners when required.
. Ensure continuous improvement of engineering standards and guidelines within DS Norden's project cargo operations.
Qualifications & Experience
. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Naval Architecture / Marine Engineering.
. Minimum 5 years of professional experience as a Naval Architect, preferably within project cargo, offshore, heavy-lift, or breakbulk shipping sectors.
. Strong knowledge of lashing & lifting principles and international guidelines (e.g., DNV, IMO CSS Code).
. Expertise in vessel structural strength, stability, and cargo securing methodologies.
. Proficiency in engineering and design software tools, including:
. - AutoCAD (2D drafting and drawings preparation).
. - Rhino or equivalent 3D modeling tools for cargo arrangement and feasibility studies.
. - ANSYS or equivalent Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software for load spread and structural analysis.
. - MS Excel (advanced level for engineering calculations and reporting).
. - MS Project or similar tools for engineering workflow planning (preferred).
. Familiarity with class society rules, IACS requirements, and industry standards for project cargo transport.
. Strong problem-solving mindset with ability to work independently and collaboratively.
