Company / Role Overview

This role sits within the Information Technology function of a regulated financial services organisation, supporting enterprise-wide IT operations and infrastructure services. The IT Operations Manager is a core member of the operations team, responsible for ensuring the stability, security, and performance of IT infrastructure and end-user services while working closely with internal stakeholders, outsourced service providers, and auditors. The environment is structured, compliance-driven, and hands-on, requiring both operational execution and governance oversight.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day IT infrastructure and operations services, including end-user computing and core enterprise platforms.
  • Manage and govern outsourced infrastructure and managed service providers, covering service delivery, contract oversight, and billing matters.
  • Lead or contribute to infrastructure-related initiatives such as technology refreshes, upgrades, migrations, and the introduction of new infrastructure capabilities.
  • Perform business-as-usual operational activities, including incident management, service request fulfilment, change management, and application support.
  • Coordinate IT disaster recovery activities, including recovery strategy definition, planning, testing, and execution in collaboration with business stakeholders.
  • Support IT audit activities and ensure timely resolution of audit findings and compliance matters.
  • Ensure all solutions and operational practices comply with internal policies, standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop, maintain, and document IT operations procedures, standards, and knowledge base content.
  • Perform system and network patching, capacity planning, and performance monitoring, and recommend improvements to enhance stability and efficiency.

Job Requirements

  • Degree in Engineering, Business, Finance, Computer Science, or an equivalent discipline (must-have).
  • Minimum of 5 years hands-on experience in IT infrastructure and IT operations roles (must-have).
  • Strong technical knowledge of enterprise technologies such as Windows Server environments, cloud platforms, end-user computing, directory services, virtualisation, networking, backup and recovery, and security tools (must-have).
  • Proven experience managing internal stakeholders, end users, and external vendors or service providers (must-have).
  • Proficiency in IT service management frameworks (e.g. ITIL, ITSM) with some exposure to project-based work (must-have).
  • Experience within regulated environments such as banking or insurance, and familiarity with local technology risk or regulatory guidelines (nice-to-have).
  • Relevant professional certifications in infrastructure, cloud, networking, or security domains (nice-to-have).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and teamwork skills, with fluency in written and spoken English (must-have).
