Job Description

Role Description:

The Investment Banking Analyst plays a critical role in supporting senior bankers in the execution of complex financial transactions, including mergers and acquisitions (M&A), capital raising, and other corporate finance advisory services. This role involves conducting in-depth financial analysis, preparing pitch books and presentations, building financial models, and providing general analytical support throughout the transaction process. The Investment Banking Analyst is expected to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, delivering precise and timely results to meet client needs.

Key responsibilities include preparing financial models for valuation, conducting market and industry research, preparing materials for client meetings, assisting in due diligence, and supporting senior bankers during deal execution. The Analyst will also be involved in preparing investment memoranda, financial reports, and client presentations, and will interact directly with clients, legal teams, and other advisors throughout the deal process.

Qualifications:

  • Financial Modeling & Analysis: Strong ability to build and analyze financial models, including discounted cash flow (DCF), comparable company analysis (CCA), precedent transactions, and leveraged buyout (LBO) models. Expertise in financial analysis and valuation techniques.
  • Market & Industry Research: Experience in conducting thorough market and industry research to support investment banking transactions. Ability to analyze market trends, competitor performance, and industry dynamics to inform deal strategy.
  • Presentation & Reporting: Advanced proficiency in preparing pitch books, client presentations, and detailed investment memorandums. Ability to communicate complex financial data and insights in a clear and professional manner.
  • Excel & PowerPoint Expertise: Proficiency in advanced Excel for financial modeling and analysis. Strong skills in PowerPoint to create compelling presentations for clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail, with the ability to review complex financial models, due diligence materials, and transaction documents for accuracy.
  • Time Management & Multitasking: Ability to handle multiple tasks and manage competing priorities under tight deadlines. Strong time management skills to ensure projects are completed on time.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present findings and recommendations clearly and persuasively. Comfortable interacting with clients, senior bankers, and external parties.
  • Team Player & Collaboration: Ability to work well in a team, collaborating with senior bankers, clients, legal teams, and other stakeholders throughout the deal process.
  • Work Ethic & Flexibility: A strong work ethic, with the ability to work long hours and handle demanding workloads. Willingness to be flexible and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Education: A degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field. An MBA or other advanced degrees, or relevant certifications such as CFA, are beneficial but not required.
  • Experience: Previous experience in investment banking, financial services, or consulting is a strong plus. Internships or entry-level roles in financial analysis, M&A, or corporate finance are highly valued.
