Job Description

Job Purpose:

This internship supports the Centre of Excellence for Pandemic Preparedness (CoEPP) at the Singapore Red Cross in advancing regional pandemic preparedness initiatives across Southeast Asia. The intern will contribute to programme coordination, data and innovation projects, and communication efforts that strengthen regional knowledge-sharing and preparedness planning. Through this role, the intern will gain exposure to regional public health collaboration, outbreak monitoring, and capacity-building initiatives within the humanitarian sector.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Programme Support

  • Assist in the planning, coordination, and documentation of activities for the Pandemic Readiness Enhancement Programme (PREP) 2026) and other CoEPP-led events.
  • Support preparation of materials such as participant briefs, communication content, and post-event summaries.

2. Data and Innovation

  • Support data collection, organisation, and standardisation of outbreak and environmental datasets across Southeast Asia.
  • Work with volunteers, data engineers, and technical partners to prepare datasets and support AI-assisted analysis for disease forecasting.

3. Communication and Engagement

  • Develop and plan content for CoEPP's quarterly newsletters, disease awareness series, and social media platforms (LinkedIn, Website, Instagram etc.).
  • Assist in drafting public health narratives, commentaries, or briefs on emerging health topics in the region.

4. Stakeholder and Regional Coordination

  • Support communication and coordination with CoEPP Workgroup and Taskforce members, regional partners, and National Societies.
  • Assist with meeting preparation, minute-taking, and follow-up documentation to ensure smooth information flow and alignment across activities.

5. Travelling may be required.

  • Travelling may be required for programme activities.

Qualifications:

1. Strong interest in public health, infectious diseases, and regional outbreak preparedness.

2. Understanding of (or curiosity about) data-driven or AI-supported health analysis.

3. Good communication and writing skills, with interest in health communication and content creation.

4. Organised, detail-oriented, and comfortable coordinating with multiple stakeholders.

5. Open to cross-cultural collaboration and regional engagement within Southeast Asia.

6. Interest in health communication, knowledge translation, or digital content creation is an advantage.

7. Basic familiarity with data organisation or analysis tools is beneficial but not required.

8. Organised, detail-oriented, and able to coordinate tasks across multiple stakeholders.

9. Comfortable working in a collaborative and multicultural regional environment
