Our client - a well-known of Insurance Company is looking for Head of Marine Underwriting.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Business Development
- Set direction and lead initiatives to grow marine insurance portfolios and improve profitability.
- Partner with distribution teams and brokers to secure new opportunities and renew existing accounts.
- Provide oversight on network portfolios and offer leadership support when needed.
2. Underwriting Leadership
- Oversee underwriting governance, including setting internal guidelines and ensuring treaty compliance.
- Assess complex cases, provide expert advice, and coordinate with senior stakeholders for escalations.
- Maintain contract accuracy and support high-quality reporting and documentation.
3. Systems & Operations - e-Cargo / PASIA Systems
- Lead teams in the effective use of underwriting platforms
- Coordinate with IT and business teams on system upgrades, testing, and reporting enhancements.
- Ensure platforms run smoothly and user support is effectively delivered.
4. Client and Broker Engagement
- Monitor portfolio performance and claims experience to ensure sustainable growth.
- Act as a key contact for brokers, supporting queries and reinforcing client relationships.
- Promote digital adoption and support renewal strategies through client engagement.
5. Regional & Segment Support
- Provide underwriting support to the Brunei office and other regional units as needed.
- Guide local teams on risk placement, technical queries, and compliance standards.
- Work closely with Japanese segment teams on policy servicing and client coordination.
6. Team Management & Internal Collaboration
- Lead, train, and develop the underwriting team.
- Collaborate with finance for reconciliation, reporting, and premium collection tasks.
- Align internal operations with overall underwriting objectives.
7. Training & Knowledge Sharing
- Deliver training on underwriting processes, products, and systems to internal stakeholders.
- Educate clients and intermediaries on coverage solutions.
- Run knowledge sessions to upskill departments such as Claims and Sales.
