Role DescriptionWe are seeking a highly skilled and strategic leader to join our team as the Head of Investment Management. This role involves overseeing the investment strategy, asset management, and portfolio optimization for the organization. You will lead a team responsible for managing a diverse portfolio, ensuring the efficient allocation of capital and assets in line with organizational goals. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in investment management, financial modeling, risk management, and capital strategy, with a proven track record of driving portfolio growth and maximizing returns.
Key ResponsibilitiesInvestment Strategy & Portfolio Management:
- Lead the development and implementation of investment strategies for the organization's capital and asset portfolio, ensuring alignment with the company's financial objectives
- Oversee the management of investment portfolios, ensuring optimal asset allocation, diversification, and risk management
- Analyze market trends, economic data, and financial reports to guide investment decisions and identify new investment opportunities
- Work closely with senior leadership to define and refine long-term investment strategies based on business needs and market conditions
- Develop and manage capital budgeting processes, ensuring that investments are aligned with organizational goals and generate optimal returns
Capital & Asset Strategy Leadership:
- Lead the capital strategy function, identifying opportunities for capital growth, asset appreciation, and strategic investment
- Provide strategic direction on the acquisition, disposition, and management of assets, ensuring that assets are optimized for maximum value
- Oversee the financial modeling and valuation of assets, ensuring accurate forecasting and risk assessments
- Develop capital allocation frameworks to assess the financial impact of various investment opportunities and their fit within the company's strategic objectives
- Collaborate with other departments, including finance, legal, and operations, to structure and execute strategic capital initiatives
Financial Risk Management & Performance Monitoring:
- Implement and oversee financial risk management strategies, ensuring that investment portfolios are aligned with risk tolerance and financial objectives
- Continuously monitor portfolio performance, analyzing returns, liquidity, and risk metrics to ensure performance targets are met
- Develop and implement tools and systems for tracking investment performance, risk exposure, and return on investment (ROI)
- Report regularly to the executive leadership team on portfolio performance, risks, and opportunities, providing actionable insights for decision-making
- Mitigate financial risks by employing diversification strategies, hedging techniques, and other risk management methods
Team Leadership & Development:
- Lead and mentor the investment management team, fostering a high-performance culture and supporting professional development
- Develop and implement team objectives, key performance indicators (KPIs), and success metrics to ensure alignment with business goals
- Conduct performance reviews, provide coaching, and offer career development opportunities for team members
- Ensure the team's compliance with industry regulations, company policies, and best practices in investment management
Stakeholder & External Relations:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for external stakeholders, including investors, financial advisors, and capital partners
- Build and maintain relationships with financial institutions, investment partners, and other relevant industry players to ensure access to capital and investment opportunities
- Collaborate with legal, tax, and compliance teams to ensure that all investment activities adhere to regulatory standards and internal controls
- Represent the company at investment forums, conferences, and industry events, staying informed of market trends and networking with key stakeholders
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field; MBA or relevant postgraduate qualification preferred
- 10+ years of experience in investment management, capital strategy, asset management, or portfolio management
- Proven experience in managing large investment portfolios and assets across various sectors (e.g., real estate, equities, private equity, bonds)
- Deep understanding of financial markets, capital allocation, and asset valuation
- Strong experience in financial modeling, risk management, and performance measurement
- Expertise in the use of investment management tools, portfolio management software, and financial analysis tools
- In-depth knowledge of investment regulations, industry standards, and compliance requirements
Preferred Skills- Professional certifications such as CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst), FRM (Financial Risk Manager), or CAIA (Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst)
- Experience with alternative investments, real estate investments, and private equity
- Knowledge of global capital markets, financial instruments, and international investment strategies
- Familiarity with ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) investment strategies and trends
- Strong negotiation and deal-making skills, with experience in capital raising and structuring investment deals
