Job Description

Positon: General Manager (GM)

The General Manager (GM) is fully responsible for the overall leadership, performance, and profitability of the Thai restaurant. This role oversees all operational, financial, and people management aspects of the business, ensuring consistent food quality, excellent customer experience, compliance with regulatory requirements, and achievement of business targets.

The General Manager will work closely with owners, senior management, chefs, and department heads to drive operational excellence, develop strong teams, and grow the restaurant sustainably.

Key Responsibilities

1. Overall Restaurant Operations

  • Lead and oversee daily restaurant operations to ensure smooth, efficient, and consistent service.

  • Ensure the restaurant meets high standards of food quality, presentation, cleanliness, and service excellence.

  • Establish, implement, and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) across all departments.

  • Monitor restaurant performance and take corrective actions to address operational issues promptly.

2. Financial & Business Performance

  • Manage the restaurant's profit and loss (P&L), including revenue, cost control, and budgeting.

  • Develop and implement strategies to improve sales, profitability, and cost efficiency.

  • Control food cost, labor cost, and overhead expenses while maintaining quality standards.

  • Prepare regular financial reports, forecasts, and performance analysis for management review.

3. Leadership & People Management

  • Recruit, train, develop, and retain a high-performing management and service team.

  • Provide clear leadership, direction, and performance expectations to all staff.

  • Conduct regular performance reviews, coaching sessions, and disciplinary actions where necessary.

  • Foster a positive, professional, and respectful work culture aligned with company values.

  • Ensure compliance with manpower regulations, employment laws, and company HR policies.

4. Customer Experience & Brand Standards

  • Ensure excellent guest experience and prompt resolution of customer feedback or complaints.

  • Maintain strong brand image and ensure consistency with the restaurant's Thai cuisine concept and service standards.

  • Implement customer engagement initiatives to improve satisfaction, loyalty, and repeat business.

  • Monitor online reviews and customer feedback, taking proactive steps to improve ratings and reputation.

5. Food Quality & Kitchen Coordination

  • Work closely with the Head Chef / Kitchen Manager to ensure authenticity, consistency, and quality of Thai cuisine.

  • Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and licensing requirements at all times.

  • Oversee menu implementation, pricing, and operational feasibility.

  • Support menu improvements and seasonal offerings in alignment with business strategy.

6. Compliance, Safety & Hygiene

  • Ensure full compliance with local regulations, including food safety, workplace safety, and licensing requirements.

  • Maintain high standards of hygiene, cleanliness, and workplace safety across the restaurant.

  • Prepare for inspections and audits by authorities and ensure corrective actions are implemented promptly.

7. Strategic Planning & Growth

  • Develop short-term and long-term operational and business strategies.

  • Identify opportunities for business improvement, expansion, or operational optimization.

  • Support marketing initiatives, promotions, and partnerships to increase brand visibility and revenue.

  • Provide management with insights and recommendations based on operational data and market trends.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Minimum 8-10 years of experience in the Food & Beverage industry, with at least 3-5 years in a senior management or General Manager role.

  • Proven experience managing full-service Asian or Thai restaurants is highly preferred.

  • Strong understanding of restaurant financials, cost control, and P&L management.

  • Excellent leadership, people management, and communication skills.

  • In-depth knowledge of food safety, hygiene standards, and regulatory compliance.

  • Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and make sound decisions.

  • Strong business acumen with a hands-on, operational mindset.
