We are partnering with a leading energy and infrastructure company to appoint a General Counsel as part of its senior leadership team.
This is a strategic and hands-on role, working closely with the CEO and leadership team to support business expansion while ensuring strong governance, risk management, and compliance frameworks across multiple jurisdictions.
Key Responsibilities
Transaction & Commercial Leadership
- Lead legal support across investments, partnerships, and complex cross-border transactions
- Partner closely with investment and commercial teams on structuring, negotiation, and execution
- Provide practical, solutions-oriented advice on risk allocation and deal strategy
- Support the negotiation of key commercial agreements across project lifecycles
Risk, Governance & Advisory
- Establish and maintain robust legal and risk management frameworks across the region
- Advise senior leadership and the Board on legal, contractual, and regulatory risks
- Drive best practices in governance, approvals, and contracting processes
Strategic Business Partnering
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, balancing commercial priorities with legal considerations
- Enable efficient decision-making through clear, pragmatic legal guidance
- Support the development of innovative commercial and partnership structures
Compliance & Ethics
- Oversee compliance frameworks including anti-bribery and corruption, and regulatory adherence
- Develop and enhance internal policies, controls, and training initiatives
- Promote a strong culture of integrity and ethical conduct
Leadership
- Build and lead a regional legal function, supporting a growing and dynamic business
- Manage external counsel across multiple jurisdictions
- Foster a collaborative, high-performance team culture
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Qualified lawyer with strong academic credentials
- 12+ years experience across private practice and/or in-house environments
- Proven experience in complex transactions within infrastructure, energy, or asset-heavy sectors
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to balance risk and opportunity
- Experience working across multiple jurisdictions in Asia
- Track record in building or leading legal teams in a growth-oriented environment
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills in a multicultural setting
