Job Summary
Support heavy vehicle drivers by resolving on-site issues, training new drivers on safety and operations, and managing accident and insurance processes to ensure efficient fleet operations.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary contact for drivers to resolve site disputes, road blockages, and mechanical issues promptly to minimize delays
- Provide immediate, practical solutions to keep trucks moving and maintain operational schedules
- Test and interview new driver candidates to assess their capability to operate heavy vehicles safely and competently
- Instruct new drivers on company SOPs, safety protocols, and proper tipper vehicle operation to ensure compliance and safety
- Respond to accident sites promptly to gather evidence including photos, videos, and witness statements for accurate documentation
- Manage the entire insurance claim process from filing to negotiating settlements to protect company interests
- Coordinate with the workshop to oversee timely and proper repairs of trucks, ensuring quick return to service
- Communicate effectively with drivers during difficult conversations and maintain professionalism with insurance adjusters and management
Required competencies and certifications
- Valid Class 4 Driving License
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- 3-5 years of experience in heavy vehicle or tipper operations
- Ability to apply practical problem-solving skills (street smarts) to resolve operational challenges quickly
- Strong discipline to complete accurate reports and maintain thorough filing
