What You'll Do

As a Finance Manager based in Singapore within this multinational corporation's APAC Finance team, you will play a central role in overseeing all aspects of accounting and financial reporting for the distribution business. Your responsibilities will span from partnering with key stakeholders across sales, supply chain, commercial operations, finance, and tax teams to supporting smooth business operations. You will oversee accounts payable/receivable activities alongside shared services teams while reviewing accounting transactions for accuracy. Monitoring intercompany transactions will be crucial as you ensure timely reconciliations between entities. Preparing journal entries according to SFRS/IFRS standards forms part of your routine alongside managing month-end close processes. You'll compile statutory/management financial statements for submission within tight deadlines. Handling import/export transactions requires expertise in multi-currency accounting as you manage revaluations and trade finance instruments like LCs or trust receipts. Compliance is paramount: you'll prepare GST returns (including zero-rated exports), adhere to Singapore Companies Act regulations/IRAS tax requirements/ACRA filing deadlines while supporting corporate income tax computations/deferred tax provisions/internal/external audits/process improvements/risk mitigation efforts. Cash flow management involves forecasting working capital needs/bank reconciliations/financing facilities/trade finance collaborations with Treasury. Financial planning includes supporting annual budgets/variance analyses/providing insights for strategic decisions-all within a collaborative environment that values your input.

  • Partner with Sales, Supply Chain, Commercial Operations, Finance, and Tax teams to ensure seamless execution of Singapore distribution operations by providing financial guidance on operational and commercial matters.
  • Oversee accounts payable and receivable activities in close collaboration with shared services teams to maintain accuracy and compliance with company policies.
  • Review and validate accounting transactions regularly to ensure completeness, correctness, and adherence to internal controls as well as statutory requirements.
  • Monitor intercompany transactions diligently and perform timely reconciliations to maintain transparency across entities within the group.
  • Prepare journal entries in accordance with SFRS/IFRS and corporate accounting policies while managing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing processes.
  • Compile statutory and management financial statements that comply with SFRS/IFRS standards for submission to regional and global headquarters within strict reporting timelines.
  • Account for import/export transactions in a trading environment by managing foreign currency transactions, revaluation processes, exchange gain/loss recognition, and trade finance instruments such as letters of credit (LC), trust receipts, and trade financing.
  • Ensure compliance with local statutory requirements including GST returns (with zero-rated exports), Singapore Companies Act regulations, IRAS tax requirements, ACRA filing deadlines, corporate income tax computation, deferred tax provisions, internal/external audits preparation, strengthening internal controls, process improvement initiatives, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Monitor cash flow forecasts meticulously while managing bank reconciliations and financing facilities for daily operations; collaborate with Treasury on trade finance facilities and credit lines.
  • Support annual budgeting processes by performing variance analysis on revenue/operating expenses; provide insightful financial analysis to aid business decision-making.

What You Bring

To excel as a Finance Manager within this multinational corporation's APAC Finance team in Singapore you will bring extensive experience gained from 10-12 years working in accounting or financial management roles-ideally within distribution/trading/import-export sectors. Your academic background includes a bachelor's degree in accountancy or finance complemented by professional certifications such as ACCA/CPA/CA if available. You have demonstrated success navigating matrixed MNC structures/collaborating cross-functionally/exposure to regional reporting/multi-entity environments. Technical expertise covers SFRS/IFRS/Singapore tax regulations/Microsoft Excel proficiency/familiarity with ERP systems like JD Edwards/SAP/multi-currency accounting/intercompany transactions/trade finance instruments/practical transfer pricing knowledge/UCP600 & Incoterms application. Your project leadership skills enable you to align stakeholders/set priorities/objectives/deliver results while maintaining strategic focus on translating business goals into actionable plans. Detail-orientation/accountability underpin your analytical/commercial awareness/problem-solving abilities-supported by strong communication/stakeholder management skills/fluent English/additional Asian languages if possible/managing multiple deadlines across time zones.

  • Bachelor's degree in accountancy or finance or related field is required; professional certification such as ACCA, CPA or CA is advantageous.
  • 10-12 years of relevant experience in accounting, financial management or operational roles ideally within distribution/trading/import-export businesses.
  • Proven ability working cross-functionally in matrixed multinational corporations with exposure to regional reporting/multi-entity environments considered beneficial.
  • Strong knowledge of SFRS/IFRS/Singapore tax regulations coupled with proficiency in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with ERP systems preferred.
  • Experienced in multi-currency accounting/intercompany transactions/trade finance instruments (letters of credit/trust receipts/trade financing).
  • Practical understanding of Transfer Pricing principles/their impact on commercial transactions; strong knowledge of Incoterms in trade/commercial dealings.
  • Demonstrated ability leading projects/assignments/alignment of stakeholders/set clear priorities/objectives/driving measurable outcomes.
  • Strategic mindset capable of translating business strategy into actionable plans through effective stakeholder partnership.
  • Detail-oriented approach combined with strong ownership/accountability; analytical/commercially aware/problem-solving skills essential.
